Living in the United States affords us so many privileges and blessings that there isn't enough space to list them all. The freedom we enjoy is because of the brave men and women who serve in our armed forces. That would include our cadets, active duty and retirees.
I know all about this because Bob the Builder is a retired USAF service member.
His career began right out of high school in 1980 and served all over the world.
We married in December 1990 and during that time I learned a lot about myself. I learned that I could adjust to all circumstances, in all kinds of places, during all kinds of times.
Bob was active duty on September 11, 2001. I remember waiting anxiously at the bus stop for Boo (aka our daughter, Gina), who was 8 at the time. When she got off the school bus, she asked me, "Mommy, what happened today? Did the President die? ". I found it difficult to explain the hatred and heartache.
Bob the Builder served over 22 years in the Air Force. There wasn't a day that I wasn't proud of him and proud to be an American. Cliche, I know, but so true.
It has been 12 years since his retirement and I am no less proud. We celebrate every 4th of July thankful for our freedom but always remembering that it has come at a cost. It's because of the brave.
These scrapbook pages were created years ago but I still wanted to provide some inspiration. Please forgive the poor photo quality. I took them 'back in the day' before Boo taught me about better photography. ((smile))

Happy Independence Day!
Beautifully said and oh so true. Thanks for reminding us what the holiday is all about.
Thank you for your thoughtful comment, Barbara. Celebrate your freedom today! HUGS
Thank You Lisa, for sharing about Bob and his service to this great country of ours, and to YOU we also say thank you, because you (any spouse) sacrifice a lot too.
We (my husband and I) know so well what you mean, when you say PROUD. Our youngest son is a Major with the USA Air Force and has been in 13 yrs now. He has been to Iraq twice and Afghanistan 4 times, and this Mon 7-6-15, leaves and will be in Kuwait City for 6 mos. He and our D n L Amy met while he was on his first deployment to Afghan (1 yr. then) and Myles was in Iraq when their son was born. They married on 07-07-07, 2 mos., after he got back from there.
So to Bob and Myles and all others who have served and are serving, to You and Amy and all other spouses, we say THANK YOU for your wonderful services to this great country of ours.
HAPPY 4th of July and may GOD BLESS AMERICA, land of the free, home of the BRAVE.
Oh, Nana Vonne, you made me cry! Thank you for the sweet, sweet words and for sharing your story. You know, blogging can be a ‘lonely world’ at times and when I can read about those that read my blog it really bridges the distance and lets me get to know YOU. God bless Myles and Amy for their dedicated service. Happy Independence Day!
Beautiful sentiments today, Lisa. How did you create the “fireworks” in the last LO? thanks
Hi Debra! Happy 4th of July to you! Those were created using a floral stamp set that retired last year. I simply turned the flowers upside down. 😀
I’ll have to look through my stamps and see if I can imagine any one of them upside down!!! LOL
Upside down works wonders on lots of stamps. Sometimes dropping them and reaching down for them while their upside down gives you an entire new vantage point! 🙂
