I'm here spending the day with four of my downline, my daughter and lots of other stampers to support U.S. Navy families.
My dear friend and fellow demonstrator, Lee Conrey, organizes a bi-monthly event to support local charities. This month her "Stamp Out" event will benefit our returning Navy heros and their families. Being the wife of a retired Air Force Sargent, I know, first hand, what it's like when our active duty military members return home after being away. They need to "reconnect". Their spouse and children had settled into a new routine without them and, when they get back, they often feel like they need to "fit back in". It can be difficult and challenging. The Navy has recommended that families spend time playing board games together as a way of reconnecting. You remember BOARD GAMES, right? Unlike the current technology of playing games, (Wii's, Play Stations, etc.), board games allow families to interact personally by looking at one another and talking to each other, all while having fun.
Lee's event includes these wonderful make & take projects. If you're ever in the Jacksonville, FL area, do me a favor, please. Check Lee's blog and see when her next charity event is going to be and attend. Your love for paper crafting will extend far beyond your own two hands and bless many worthy organizations.
My stamping bag is packed, the car is loaded and we're off to Jacksonville to benefit military our heros!
