Today's stampin' duos feature my favorite motif – vintage! I've created a Christmas ornament and coordinating gift card holder from my favorite designer series papers – Typeset. I'll not only show you how to make the paper cone ornament but how to easily create gift card holder counterpart. I've added a flower, ribbon and of course, a pearl!
I've included pictures and a highlight of the instructions below for easy reference. Remember, you can click on the pictures to enlarge them on your screen.
Christmas Cone Ornament
- Cut designer paper 8"x8". Cut diagonally to create a triangle.
- Create cone shape by watching my video instructions – visual is the easiest way to learn.
- Use Sticky Strip to create the cone.
- I used 10" of the Venetian Crochet Trim ribbon for the handle.
- Sponge your cone with Soft Suede ink if you like a distressed look.
- Create the flower using punches. Crumble them for a distressed and full look. Sponge them if you'd like them to look distress. Add a brad to hold the layers and glitter them randomly. I added a pearl to the center of the brad to add to the vintage theme.
- The banner was created for a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock measuring 1/2" x 4".
Gift Card Holder
- Cut cardstock 3" x 7 1/2"
- Score at 1" and 3 3/4"
- Cut designer paper 2 3/4" x 2 1/2"
- Corner round the paper edges, if desired.
- Use the same ribbons to embellish as the cone.
- Create the flower (as the cone).
- Create the banner (as the cone).

Oh my I just love these! I could’ve used this video last week when I made my cone! It would’ve made it sooo much easier-lol! Loved the video too thank you! I’m so glad I found your blog:)
Hi Jaime! I’m so glad you found my blog too. Glad you like the project. When I was learning how to make cones I struggled with an easy way, too. So glad it was easy to follow for you. Happy Stamping!
