Have you ever started to put a project together and found that you were using a "miss-mosh" of things?
Typically I begin by pulling out the stamp set I want to use. I then choose a color of cardstock. Next I select some designer paper or an embossing folder and I begin creating. When I'm ready to put it all together it's not unusual for me to look at it and think "ugh, something's not right". Have you ever said that to yourself?
This is my 'miss-mosh' card. I mean, who puts embossed circles on a card that has rectangles in the designer paper?
ME!
But, I think it worked out. At least my customers told me it did! ((Are they lying to spare my feelings?))
I chose the stamp set because it's seriously overlooked in the Occasions Catalog. I find that little cake slice to be perfect for anyone's birthday. Young, old, guys, girls; it's suitable for everyone.
I chose the Large Polka Dot embossing folder because it's not too feminine. I then pulled out the Flashback designer paper choosing the rectangle pattern.
Hmmm…..not so matchy-matchy but I just went with it anyway.
I colored in the cake slice with markers and added a small banner using the Banner Punch. A button and some Baker's Twine give the card a little 'umph' without overpowering all the miss-mosh. ((grin))
Do you think the order in which you make a project matters?
I say not! Pull out what you like and go for it!

Hi Lisa!
I love this card! The rectangles make me think of presents, and the embossed circles make me think of balloons! Both important birthday celebration elements in my book!
You did a great job….thanks so much for sharing!

June, I honestly didn’t think of the shapes being in relation to birthday presents and balloons, but you’re right! Thanks! I’m so glad you think it “works”. Thanks, too, for commenting. The feedback is appreciated and helpful!
Hugs!
