You may have hopped here from Betty Button's blog, welcome! If you're starting here, AWESOME!
This hop was created to celebrate our achievement for earning the Stampin' Up! Grand Vacation to Hawaii. The theme for this hop is Hawaiian. I'm sure you'll want to book your flight to the islands after you see the fabulously creative work shared during this hop!
This Grand Vacation is highly anticipated trip for myself and my family. We used lived in Hawaii while my husband was active duty Air Force. Receiving our orders to move there was one of the happiest days of my life, leaving was one of the saddest. We've been gone for 14 years and this will be our first time back.
Having lived on the island I can attest to its amazing natural beauty. I enjoyed the Plumeria, Hibiscus, Ginger and the other varieties which grew wild around our home. The fragrance of the island as well as the beautiful colors of the flowers are what inspired my card using the Petal Potpourri stamp set. My inspiration came from my friend Pam Steckman.
If you look closely you'll see there are two layers of Whisper White cardstock; one for the base of the card and another cut 4" x 5 1/4" which was stamped and layered with Dimensional.
I cut a piece of Vellum cardstock 2"x 5 1/2" and scored 1/8" on each side. I stamped the greeting from Yippee Skippee in Melon Mambo ink and heat set the vellum with my heat tool to speed up the drying process. I wrapped the scored ends of the vellum to the back and secured it with Snail Adhesive. The Brights Candy Dots add just the right pop of color without adding bulk to my card for mailing.
The colors make me long for May 12th – the departure day for our Hawaii Grand Vacation!
Don't stop here. Hop over to Krista Frattin's blog. Krista always has amazing projects to share. I promise you won't be disappointed.
