Today I'm feeling pretty nostalgic about the retiring "Metro Alphabet". I coupled the alphabet to title this 12"x12" double page layout, perfect for summer beach pictures.
The base of my layout is on Early Espresso cardstock with layers of colors in Sahara Sand and Whisper White. I used only one ink pad for this entire layout; Soft Suede. I was inspired by a scrapbook page created by Rachel Tessman.
The image layers are the focal point of my layout and use the Triple Time Technique. Here's how you can recreate it.
- Cut two (or more) colors of cardstock in varying sizes. Here I used Sahara Sand and Soft Sky.
- Lay them on top of one another, the smallest piece on top.
- Stamp on both layers at the same time. This will allow the image to 'bleed over' onto the piece of cardstock underneath.
- Cut darker colored cardstock 1/4" larger than the stamped image pieces and adhere them together.
- When assembled, the image appears to be continuous.
I added pearl embellishments in varying sizes to represent bubbles.
There was as little fussy cutting involved with this page; one fish and one shell.
The beach is a tranquil and majestic place, isn't it? I think it's worth a little fuss to capture those summer memories.
