Let me see 17 years ago we was adding on to our house, because my brother and mom was moving in with us. It was a crazy time of year. My brother has sense moved out but my mom is still here 🙂 it is a blessing to have her here with us. Blessings to you and your family. Tammy Jo Tanner
September 28th, 1998…….17 years ago, I was at work as a school psychologist, working with students with Autism. As a single mom of a 15 year old daughter, the after work hours would have been filled with supporting typical teen activities…..picking her up after school from swim practice, talking about the next day’s swim meet and upcoming Homecoming activities, and making sure homework got done. A pretty typical day….
Oh gosh let’s see 17 years ago today. I was just beginning my second year teaching. I was learning all about my new class of children, what they did over the summer and their likes/dislikes.
Seems so long ago.
Since it was a Sunday, I probably went to Church and out to breakfast with the family. Sunday night is steak dinner at the Lafleur family.

Good morning Lisa! Seventeen years ago I was working in the school kitchen, cooking those yummy lunches that kids love to complain about! After school let out, I helped our three kids with homework and giving the kids home baked chocolate chip cookies and milk. Cooking dinner around five-thirty for my kids and my hubby, then relaxing or doing laundry took up the evening hours. Nothing as exciting as what you did seventeen years ago! Congratulations on your anniversary Lisa and I’m wishing that you succeed in the next seventeen years too!
17 years ago, I had been at Prigressive for about a year. I was dating my now husband and was and still am living a happy life! Stacie Robbins
Honestly Boo these projects are so much cuter than the originals from SU!! I am immediately going to make the scarecrow cards instead of the candy apple holders and send out these as cards/treat holders. Also the banner is a perfect use for the fringe pieces!! Will use this for our Thanksgiving celebration. Thanks for all your creativity and for sharing!!
Took a little bit of math skills to figure out what I was doing 17 years ago! My husband and I were blessed with three grandsons. Two from our daughter’s marriage and one from our son’s marriage. We have since been blessed with two more grandsons! I was in between part time jobs so I was able to spend beautiful times with the three beautiful grandsons. Holding, rocking, feeding, changing diapers (yuck!) are my fondest memories. Someone once said “if I knew how much fun it was to have grandchildren, I would have had them first.” Blessings to you, Lisa.
17 years ago today I was in the 9th grade attending classes. Now I’m married and in the military and a mother of three, 2 boys ages 4 and 2 and a little girl 6 weeks old.

17 years ago today after a day of teaching school for both of us, my husband & I went out to dinner to celebrate his birthday. Congratulations on your 17 years as a Stampin’Up demonstrator.

17 years ago I was starting my first semester of nursing school. I was newly married and little did I know, was about a month or so pregnant with my one and only son! Congrats on 17 years as a demonstrator!!
Sometimes I can’t remember what I did yesterday – but 17 years ago I had 3 beautiful granddaughters, a supportive husband, working a job I enjoyed., and had a small but wonderful stamp room where I could escape to play.
Congrats on your 17 years with Stampin Up. The love of your job shows through your videos. Here’s to many more years to come.
17 years ago I was a stay at home mom with a just turned 2yr old son and a newborn daughter.
My days were filled with diapers and nursing and cuddles and songs! I was very crafty at the time but hadnt yet heard of Stampin’ Up… but a friend of mine and I used to get together every week to paper craft and stamp… great memories!
Hi Lisa!
I just had to write and tell you how much I enjoy Boo’s take on the Paper Pumpkin kits every month! She is just adorable, and I am sure you are very proud of her. She does such a great job on her videos, and her alternate ideas are always so imaginative and creative. Be sure and pass along to her to Keep Up the Good Work from me! 😉
Hmmm…17 years ago was my 2 year anniversary of my current job, as well as my husband’s 2 year anniversary of a wonderfully successful kidney transplant! It sure seems like a looong time ago!
Thanks so much for sharing so much creativity and inspiration on your blog, and a big congratulations on your 17 year SU! anniversary!

I was born in 1949 and was celebrating My 49th Birthday! Golden Birthday, same year and age!!
All I can say is “wow”! You’re blowing me away with your stories of years gone by. I love reading them! I just texted Boo the comments you’ve posted and she’s thrilled that you like her and her projects. As her mom, I’ve always been super proud of her but to have her be so willing to take on this extra task, well, I’m over the top grateful. Thank you all – without you and my family, I wouldn’t still be a demonstrator – 17 years later!
Seventeen years ago I was finishing packing for a 3 week trip to Greece. I had lived and taught there in the ’70’s and was taking my Dad there to lift him from his depression after the death of my Mom the previous year. We traveled to all the places I thought he might enjoy (and all the spots I never saw when I was in-country, because when you work and hold down a job, you don’t travel like a tourist…) and I was successful in lifting his spirits. So on the 28th I was making last minute arrangements and packing and NOT SLEEPING because I was so excited to be leaving on Wednesday.
Kudos to Boo for the great ideas and fun videos. I have to order a refill each month they’re available so that I can do all her great projects.
And congratulations on your 17 years with Stampin’ Up! You are such an inspiration to us all! Best wishes~
Well, 1998 wasn’t a ‘milestone’ year for me or my family. However, blessings abounded all around us. That year Michael and I celebrated our 17th wedding anniversary, our oldest daughter was 13 and probably entering middle school, Dana was 7 and just beginning her school career. We were a very typical family, doing life, serving the Lord and making memories….the ‘American Dream’.
I was just returning to work after maternity leave for Rebecca. Time really does fly by when you are having fun. Thanks Alice Harman
Seventeen years ago was my first year teaching. I was at an inner city middle school and cried daily because I hated the classroom and the kids were so mean-spirited. Now I can look back and laugh because I know I can handle anything because I had to deal with it my first year. 🙂
I was working part time in a doctors office, then shuffling my 2 sons to soccer practice
17 years ago… I was 21 and in my junior year of Business College at Western Michigan University… my days were filled with business classes, working at the Student Rec Center and having fun with my friends! 🙂 That also may or may not have been the year I was kicked out of a football game for throwing marshmallows. 😉 I will never tell if that’s a true statement! PS: I love that stamp set and I don’t have it yet!
I can’t remember exactly what I was doing, but I know that we went to church and probably played golf that afternoon. We were living in Southern California and talking about how long before retirement which was four (4) years later. Your paper pumpkin projects are very cute. Thanks for sharing.

Seventeen years ago, my first daughter was a freshman in high school and we were busy selling carnival tickets to the annual carnival that the school held each year as a fun raiser and yes, it was a lot of fun too! Really like your banner and scarecrow, so CUTE!!
17 years ago I was fighting breast cancer. and I WON. congratulations to both of us.
Hi Lisa, 17 years ago I was teaching school. Congrats on your accomplishments with SU!
17 years ago was my oldest daughters first year of high school and marching band….so I would have been at band practice with my daughter .
Congrats Lisa on 17 years with Stampin up!!!
17 years ago this date 09/28, I was doing what I’m doing tonight, counting my blessings with my husband as we celebrate our wedding anniversary. Today is our 25th.
Lisa and Boo, I just love your paper pumpkin projects. I don’t remember exactly what I was doing 17 years ago but all of my kids were still living at home so I was probably rushing them out the door to school. They have now blessed me with 5 grandkids.
17 years ago???? I was getting ready to marry the man of my dreams!!!!

Hi Lisa, Let me think about what I was doing 17 yrs ago. I was working at a job that I really loved. I never really thought about retiring at that point in my life. My mother was still living and my life was so great to still have her. We were always going someplace and doing a lot of fun things together. She made me happy. I sure wish that I had, been involved in Stampin Up. I have always had a love for making crafts so stamping would have fit right in. Congrats on your 17 yrs. You have so much to offer everyone with your creative ideas. Thank you for a chance to win.
Wow, 17 years!! GREAT!! I follow your blog & really enjoy all the tips plus the card ideas. Plus, I look forward to the “Boo” videos……..talented gal as well! Thanks for the opportunity for some blog candy & want to wish you a big congratulations of the SU anniversary! Karen
Oh, I forgot to tell what I was doing 17 yrs. ago……..DUH!
We were full-time RV’ers & were working in a campground in VA on the Northern Shore-Cherrystone Campground. We would work at campgrounds in the summer & then travel the rest of the year. We met some of the greatest people in those 10 yrs. & we still see & keep in touch with many of them. Now I’m done!! Thanks.
Love the scarecrow that you and your daughter created! I’m going to CASE!! Congratulations on 17 years! You’re always so inspiring! I’m not sure what I was doing 17 years ago on that date exactly, but my son is 17, so I’m sure it involved him in some very big way!!
17 years ago I was 16 years old and just starting my sophomore year in high school.
I was on my way to Connecticut for a clam bake weekend /mini vacation with friends I’d gone to high school with in West Berlin, Germany.
17 years ago.. several things were already in place in our life or was about to change our life. Both of my boys were living home still, God only blessed me with boys.. Even tho I prayed for a little girl, he seen fit to give me boys.. ( but, God gave me my wish, with 6 granddaughters).. my oldest, was getting ready to become a graduate and the other was just driving me crazy. We lost our dog that year, he was 14 yrs old and loved.. but, there was plans that years that were about to be fulfilled. My oldest son, who was dating a young lady for 3 years broke up with him, but once again God had a plan ..my son was about to meet his wife. My youngest was still driving me crazy. It was a great year, as we are blessed and continue to be bless…and, my youngest is still driving us crazy.. but, now he has given us a grandson
Lisa….Congratulations on your 17 years with Stampin’ Up! Thank you for your daily inspiration. As for what I was doing 17 years ago this day, I know that it was fall and my favorite time of the year with 2 beautiful 1 1/2 year old granddaughters to love. How the time flies….today they are 18 1/2 years old and just starting their 1st year of college. They are not twins though, one is my son’s and one is my daughter’s. Thanks for the memories!
17 years ago I made the decision to change jobs and it was the best decision ever, just as yours was to become a SU demonstrator! Now today I am looking forward to retirement in 2 years so I can have much more stamping time! Just recently discovered your videos and am a already a big fan. Thanks for the opportunity to win this great blog candy!
We had dropped off our youngest daughter at an out of state school. We were very sad. Now 17 years later we have five beautiful grandchildren and life couldn’t be better.
Hi Lisa! Congratulations on your anniversary! You made me stop to think what I was doing 17 years ago…working full time and loving my job at a large insurance company. I’m sure we were probably going out to dinner to celebrate the many September birthday’s in the family! I wish you many more happy years as a demonstrator!
