For over 11 years I've have volunteered as the assistant lead on behalf of Stampin' Up! to provide hand-stamped cards for the Ronald McDonald House on Davis Island in Tampa, FL. There are 14 guest rooms at this House, each room containing a box filled with hand-stamped cards. The cards are used by the families staying there while their child is receiving life sustaining treatment at Tampa General Hospital. These families are away from home, missing holidays, birthdays and other special occasions.
In addition to missing special occasions, they often want a thank you card to give to a doctor or nurse who has given exceptional care to their child.
The Ronald McDonald House on Davis Island uses up to 300 cards each month. I couldn't keep up with the demand so my "Creativity for a Cause" events were born!
I'm always on the look out for people to help me round up a group of volunteers to come stamp and assemble cards here at the Studio. Sometimes, though, schedules and distance make it difficult to nail down a date. But, that didn't stop Marian Lenhart! Marian had a deep desire to help so she took matters into her own hands!
Marian works for Florida Executive Realty and she shared the need for hand-stamped cards with co-workers. Marian is an avid lover of Stampin' Up! products and offered to design and pre-cut all the supplies if they would come and help her stamp and assemble.
LOOK what they accomplished!
These 4 amazing ladies created 96 cards in just ONE evening!
I went by the Florida Executive Realty office on Wednesday and picked up their cards. I will be delivering them this weekend, along with an additional 120 cards created through a Creativity for a Cause event earlier this month.
Every card is special because your hand-stamped creation will fall into the hands of a parent who is desperately seeking hope and healing for their child. There is nothing greater than to give a gift to someone that can never repay you.
I'm always looking for volunteers to stamp and assemble cards here at the Studio. Or, maybe you can do what Marian has done. If you live in another state, I will encourage you to contact the Ronald McDonald House in your area and ask them to put you in touch with the Stampin' Up! demonstrator who provides cards for their location. I know that he/she would be thrilled to have your help!
