O' Christmas Tree!
We are officially 53 days away from Christmas. I so love this time of year! I've already purchased several Christmas gifts and I'm eagerly anticipating Thanksgiving with family. I'm also eagerly anticipating the day after Thanksgiving. While most of you enjoy Black Friday shopping, it's my day to 'deck the halls' – a tradition we've had for 25 years strong!
Today begins the first day for ordering for my December Studio Stamps in the Mail (SSITM). I will be featuring the stamp set "Christmas Cuties" on page 19 of the Holiday Catalog. The packet includes the clear mount stamp set, pre-cut supplies to make 8 cards; 2 each of the 4 designs shown plus a step-by-step PDF tutorial with pictures. One of the cards even has a fancy fold! $31 includes everything and postage, too!
While my Christmas cards are well underway, yours might not be. So, here's a stunning and easy card to create for family and special friends. This card uses the emboss resist technique.
The base of my card is Whisper White Cardstock and I layered a 4" x 5 1/4" piece of Watercolor Paper. I'm a huge fan of the Embossing Buddy so I use it to 'prep' my cardstock before I stamp. You simply rub the Embossing Buddy over your cardstock before stamping. The Embossing Buddy helps to eliminate stray powder from statically sticking where there is no ink.
I stamped the tree image from Peaceful Pines in Whisper White craft ink, sprinkled white embossing powder over the top and heat set it. While I was allowing it to cool I used the Confetti Stars Punch and punched out a few stars from Gold Glimmer Paper.
Next step was adding the greeting – and I love this sentiment! I stamped the greeting in VersaMark ink, sprinkled gold embossing powder on it and heat set it. I was careful not to over-emboss the areas of white. I allowed about a minute for it to cool.
Then the fun part! I squeezed water from my Aqua Painter directly on to the Watercolor Paper and spread it around. I picked up ink from the lid of my ink pads and simply washed over the areas I wanted colored. So easy!
Once the image was dry (you can use your heat tool to speed it up) but it took about 3 minutes because I really saturated the paper – I added the stars with the Fine Tip Glue.
Leave me a comment and tell me what you do the day after Thanksgiving? I'd love to hear about your holiday traditions!
