Bob the Builder and I have escaped for the weekend. We are in Washington, D.C. with friends experiencing our capital city. I've never been to D.C. and it's been on my bucket list for as long as I can remember.
We arrived yesterday and spent the day catching up with our friends over lunch. We mapped out our sightseeing destinations and purchased trolley tickets because my gait is a little different right now.
Unfortunately I'm experiencing D.C. a boot. I have a partial tear in my plantar band and I'm trying to avoid surgery to repair it. My podiatrist said that some tears heal on their own if they are protected from use. I've ditched my cute shoes for the next 6 weeks. Yes, 6 weeks! I'm getting around fine – slower – but fine. I'm determined that this tear will heal on it's own because I'm headed to Ireland and Spain before the Stampin' Up! Incentive Trip cruise to the Mediterranean in mid-May. There will be LOTS of walking.
The first thing I noticed when I arrived in D.C. are the gorgeous cherry blossoms. The colors are magnificent!
It feels like spring with all these gorgeous pink blooms so I've decided to share a butterfly card that I created using the Watercolor Wings stamp set.
My friend, Kylie created a card using this same color combination and it inspired me.
This stamp set is photopolymer making it effortless to align the different pieces that define the wings. Not much leaves my house without a little bling so I added a gold metallic thread bow and gold sequin to the belly of my butterfly.
I decided the greeting could use a little shimmer so I added a few strands of gold metallic thread around the end of my banner,
Pinks and shimmer – reminds me of this gorgeous view!

This is a beautiful card, Lisa. I love the colors with the butterfly and what you did with the sentiment. Who doesn’t like some bling? So glad you are enjoying DC and your friends. There is a lot to see. Good luck with your boot. I hope your foot heals without surgery.
Hi HJ! Thanks so much for the kind words about my foot. This is day 3 in D.C. and I’ve managed 30 miles – yes MILES – on this boot with no difficulty. I held Bob the Builder’s hand a lot, on escalators and uneven sidewalks but otherwise I’ve even surprised myself. D.C. has been amazing and I’ll definitely be back. It’s almost impossible to see everything in one visit. Thank you, too, for the kind words about my card. So glad you like it!!!
Oh no.. traveling with a boot is never fun.. Hope it heals up fast… plantar issues are never fun..
Hi Debbie! No plantar issues are not fun but I did great in D.C. I walked 29.7 miles in the four days we were there. My only complaint was a sore hip. I stretched it out several times a day which helped immensely. I’m assuming the soreness was from the difference in my gait. Had a wonderful time. Thanks for your well wishes!
