Members of my Hawaii Ink team enjoyed a special "Diva Day" centered around a travel theme. This event was to reward them for their achievements in a recent challenge. I shared additional pictures in yesterday's blog post. If you missed them, you can find them HERE.
As promised, I'm sharing the suitcase favor I made for them using the half size wide stamp cases.
I used the Typeset Designer Paper (retiring on May 31st or while supplies last) to place under the clear insert of this box. I simply measured the opening and slipped the paper in. I was able to create three inserts from one sheet of 12"x12".
I slipped the designer paper into the clear insert and shut the case. This created a slight crease in the paper so I knew where to place my pieces.
In order to make the box look more like a suitcase I create straps from strips of Basic Black cardstock. The suitcase buckles were created from the silver foil sheets and 2 different size circle punches to create the rings. I used SNAIL adhesive to adhere the completed straps to the designer paper.
Vintage suitcases had reinforced metal corners so I mimicked that idea using a 1" circle punch. I cut the circle into 1/4's and mounted each piece on the designer paper.
Bob the Builder purchased the drawer handles at a home improvement store and drilled them in place.
The suitcase held white embossing powder and a roll of chevron ribbon.
*I've listed all the supplies at the end of this post*
Personalized gifts are always special so I created a set of note cards and envelopes for each of my achievers with their monogram on them and placed them in a Kraft Bag (retiring on May 31st or while supplies last). I stamped the front of the bag using the World Map background stamp (also retiring!) in Crumb Cake ink. I tied it shut with jute and used a blank shipping tag that I stamped with various stamps (see supply list at the end of this post). The Going Places designer paper created a simply belly band around the Gusseted Cellophane Bags (yep, retiring, too!). I added a few punched pieces with the jute to create a coordinated gift set.
In yesterday's blog post I shared how I love to decorate. I scoured thrift stores and my own closets for things to use to transform the room. This passport photo area held our photo booth props.
This suitcase is a family relic. It was the perfect "baggage claim" area for the suitcase favors.
I used vintage maps to create the "Adventure Awaits" banner.
Seven demonstrators on my Hawaii Ink team earned Diva Day. Unfortunately, one couldn't be with us. She still received all her gifts and I completed the make & takes for her.
I wanted them to feel loved and appreciated…
