When I was a child, my grandmother (Nana) would occasionally take my sister on I, on the train downtown, to where she worked. She was a professional seamstress and worked sewing silk linings and monograms into fur coats. Furs are no longer worn (and for good reasons) but this was in the mid 1960’s and it was a fun-filled day when she would tote us along.
To pass the day she would give me a huge roll of satin or velvet ribbon and I would tie bows. She taught my sister and I how to tie a bow so it would lay correctly. I learned it has lots to do with how you looped the ribbon before tying it. I made lots of bows. Lots and lots.
Even though I had “bow training” at a young age, most of my customers tell me they hate making bows because they never turn out well. So, today I’m going to revolutionize your options! This idea was shared with me by Jackie from Ontario. It’s not only brilliant, but easy.
If bows frustrate you, give this wrapped ribbon tie a try!
