Having had a birthday recently I can attest to the impact that a handmade card makes when it arrives. I got dozens of cards from blog followers, You Tube subscribers, team members and family. I was overwhelmed by the creations and thoughtful messages they all held.
I created this card for my cousin but there were serious restrictions – no sparkle! (Egads!) A card with no sparkle? Is it even possible?
I'm happy to report – it is possible! I even surprised myself!
I wanted something different. Something eye catching and something easy!
The Marquee Messages stamp set has so many fun, retro images that I knew would work. Honestly, as much as I love to color, I wasn't "in the mood". So, I decided to stamp on coordinating cardstock. I was thrilled with the results!
I stamped the arrow image in Sweet Sugarplum ink on Sweet Sugarplum cardstock. The birthday greeting was stamped repeatedly in Smoky Slate ink on Smoky Slate cardstock.
The circle layers for the sentiment were created using the Layering Circles Framelits and the chalk marker was used to color in the circles of the arrow, bringing perfect coordination to the white areas on the card. And, let's not forge that adorable enamel shaped star!

When my cousin received this card he called to thank me. I know exactly how special that feels! Thanks to so many of you that sent me handmade cards on my birthday a few weeks ago. MWAH!

What a great, eye catching card, Lisa. I love it with the pretty color combo and the marquee arrow pointing to the sentiment. Your cousin will be thrilled to receive this card from you. Have a great day!
