We are just 92 days away from Christmas!
For some of you that makes you nervous. For others, like myself, you're super excited. Christmas is my favorite holiday of the year.
I love the decorations, the music, church services, buying and wrapping gifts, baking and spending time with family and friends. It's the one time a year that I feel peaceful.
Part of the reason I enjoy the holidays so much is that I begin to prepare well in advance. This year we will be spending Thanksgiving with my Mom and step Dad in Las Vegas. My typical Black Friday is spent decorating our home and six (yes, I said 6!) Christmas trees. Since we won't be here I'll be starting early. I started my shopping early, too. All three of my great nephews gifts are bought. I've even gotten a few things for Boo's stocking.
With only 93 days to go I thought you would enjoy a free tutorial to create this beautiful Noel card. It features the new red and green metallic thread and the Real Red Glitter Embossing Powder. This picture doesn't capture the shimmer but it's stunning!
And, for those of you wanting to make your Christmas cards this year let me give you a little free, unsolicited advice.
- Keep it simple. Cards just like this one are beautiful because of the little things like the metallic thread and embossed background. You certainly don't have to heat emboss if you're making 100 cards – if you don't want to.
- Start NOW! If you cram to get them finished you won't enjoy the process.
- If you're like me, making 100 of the same card gets monotonous so I mix it up. Consider making 20 of one card, 25 of another, etc.
And, above all else, remember that YOUR handmade card DOES make a difference when it's received. I promise!
Happy 92 days to go!

I like this sweet but simple card, Lisa. I agree with you about mass-producing lots of cards. I get bored easily and 6 – 10 are about my limit. I’m halfway through making my goal of 80 this year. Good luck with your 100. I like to start early, so I can enjoy the baking, decorating as the time gets closer. The downside of that is that I keep seeing more and more really interesting, creative designs that I want to try. Take care and have a wonderful weekend.
Nice card. Simple yet elegant!
Hi Susan! I’m so glad you like the card. Enjoy the free tutorial!
Hi HJ! It’s good to know that someone else ‘sympathizes’ with my mass producing scenario. As for my 100 cards, they are nearly finished. I start early so I can enjoy the entire process, because, like you, I want to enjoy all that December includes. And, YES, I totally understand your comment about continuing to see great project ideas and wanting to stamp more and more. We are kindred spirits! 😀
I just took a staycation from work for 2 days. 70 cards just about done. Cardstock cut, all embossed stamping done adding embellishments now !!!!!
Wow, Kerry, look at you go! Congrats on enjoying the process and getting your handmade creations done! So happy for ya. I still have about 25 to go!
