This special person is my mom and today is her birthday!
How old she is doesn't matter and honestly, she doesn't look her age. She's itty bitty with a heart bigger than Texas. Over the years, she's given me incredible advice. Some of which I should have taken and lots that I did!
My Mom lives in Las Vegas and I try to visit regularly, but it's a long, expensive trip from Florida. That's all changing this Thanksgiving when we will all be together! Bob the Builder and Boo will be coming, too! My Mom hasn't seen Boo in 3 years and I know she'll be delighted by how much she has grown and changed.
This picture was taken last May, outside the showroom at the Mandalay Bay Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. My Mom and step Dad treated me to the Michael Jackson "One" performance during our visit. And, in case you didn't know, I am a big MJ fan. Despite the years of controversy surrounding him, he was incredibly talented and I love his music. Side note: MJ's Dad lived next door to my folks for several years and they have become friends. Strange "coincidence", huh?
This picture was taken nearly 5 years ago. My great nephew, my Mom's great grandson, Jack, was about a year old. As I've watched Jack grow, I remember some of the things my Mom used to say to me. "Wait until you have kids some day." "Don't tell me not to worry, I'm your Mom." And the classic, "because I said so."
I never quite understood those comments when I was young.
Until this happened!
Please excuse the horrible quality of this picture. It was taken with an "old fashioned" camera back in 1993. That's me on the right, my Mom in the center, and my grandmother, "Nana", on the left. In my Mom's arms…Boo! Boo was just a few days old. This is the only picture I have of all four generations and it's a treasured photo.
During the past 23 years I've mimicked the words my Mom once said me. My favorite…"wait until you have kids someday." When I had Boo, everything changed! I worried. I told her "because I said so". I've given her advice. Half of which she's never taken – just like I did.
What's more fitting for Mom than the Love & Affection stamp set and Floral Affection Embossing Folder?
I used a Dapper Denim cardstock base, added a square and scallop square using the Layering Squares Framelits and a few pearls.
I treasure my family. I treasure my Mom. She's strong, encouraging, generous and loving. I'm glad God chose HER for ME!
Here's to wonderful you. Happy Birthday, Mom!

Love your pictures. My advice is to treasure your mom every day. You can never get enough ‘Mom hugs”. I love today’s card with the beautiful embossed flower on the front. I have that EF and love it. Your design will go in my folder for CASEing. Have a wonderful day! TFS
Oh what beautiful photos, especially the 4 generations one. Funny the things we remember about what our
parents told us over the years, and now we find ourselves repeating the same things. I am sure you have many
many happy memories. Thank you so much for sharing some of them with us. By the way, love the card too.
Hi Jean! It is funny about the things we remember that our mom’s said, isn’t it? Oh, there’s at least another dozen lines – all of which I have used on Boo! (to her dismay! LOL) I have TONS of great memories. I cherish my family. They are the one constant thing in my life and they bring me much joy! Thanks, too, for the comments about my card. Simple wins! 😀
Hi HJ! I do treasure my Mom and yes, her hugs are the best. Funny how when we are kids we don’t appreciate all that our Moms did for us but as soon as you I had Boo – well, it all made sense. So glad you like the card. CASE-ing is the best compliment ever! 😀
