While thousands of children are eagerly awaiting their neighborhood route to trick or treat tonight, I've been busy designing Thanksgiving cards.
Creating these cards is one of my favorite things to do this time of year so my quest for the perfect card began. I looked through the Holiday Catalog admiring all the amazing stamps, designer papers and embellishments. In the array of great products I noticed there were no traditional Thanksgiving stamp images. No pilgrims, no turkeys, no cornucopia.
Uh oh!
Then I took a closer look at the Paisleys & Posies Bundle. This stamp set has framelits that coordinate with the images. While studying the shapes I realized that some of the framelits would create the perfect turkey!
Using your stamps and framelits in an unintended way stretches your investment. With a little imagination you can take your punches, framelits and even stamps and use them in a new, creativate way. This turkey would look great on your Thanksgiving table as place cards, added to a napkin ring, for dinner invitations and even on bags for meal leftovers.
I've included pictures, cutting dimensions and a "piece key" below to help you recreate this card.
And, while you're watching today's video project, help me, please. What is the correct name for that 'thing' that hangs under the turkey's beak? I'm stymied! Leave me a comment.
Here's a great collage, perfect for pinning to your Pinterest board!
Cutting Dimensions
- Early Espresso cardstock base is cut 5 1/2" x 8 1/2"
- Very Vanilla cardstock layer is cut 4" x 5 1/4"
- Paisley Framelits were used to create the eyes, "wobbler" and head
- Flower Medallion Punch was used to create the beak
- 1 3/4" Circle Punch was used to create the body
- Layering Circles Framelits were used to create the feathers
- Note in the video, but noted here, the white dots inside the eyes were created using the White Chalk Marker, item #132133, $3.50

It’s called the turkey’s wattle!
Wattle – I was close, wasn’t I? 😀 Thanks, Cindy Jo. Hope you liked the card.

I see someone told you the answer…….it’s a turkey wattle!! Great fun card for “turkey day”. Love your videos & you have some great tips & ideas………I have implemented many of them. Thanks!
Thanks for the comment, Karen. I appreciate the kind words, too!
I always remember that. When my kids were young, they were told by their Uncle Parley that he had a waddle under his neck just like a turkey. He was really their great Uncle, Gr-uncle Parley. He was very skinny and his neck had a lot of loose flesh just like a turkey. The kids loved it! Thanks for a trip down memory lane!
Hi Susan! Your Uncle Parley sounds like a great man! Thanks for taking the time to stop by and leave a comment. This warmed my heart!
Such a cute card! Can’t wait to try this 🙂
