We are just 4 days and a "wake up" until Christmas Day.
What's a "wake up"? As a young girl my mom would often count down the days until vacation and she would always count the full days and add the final "wake up" until we left. It's a saying that has stuck and I use it with Boo still today.
My Christmas shopping and wrapping are finished. I'm busy baking and enjoying the season with my family and friends. Among the festivities will be Christmas Eve services at our church. Once again this year I have volunteered to cook lunch for the volunteers. Although there will be over 120 people serving in various areas of our ministry, 40 of them will be there for 8 hours or longer. That's a long time to go without a hot meal.
It's become tradition – lasagna, salad, bread, meatballs and the best cupcakes (made by my amazing friend, Colleen) you've ever had!
I have always enjoyed serving. I've done all kinds of things over the years and my Christmas wouldn't be complete without doing something.
Serving – that's what Jesus did. He came to teach, heal and save. He's the reason I celebrate Christmas.
