As a child, I remember my Mom purchasing a fresh wreath every year. She either visited a local tree lot or purchased them through a fundraiser, but we always had one.
Oh, the smell of fresh pine! It's fabulous, isn't it?
In our nearly 26 years of marriage (December 29th!), Bob the Builder and I have had a real tree only twice. During the first 6 years of our marriage we lived in Las Vegas, where he was stationed, and our real tree was dry and brittle within a week of decorating it. To say it was a mess was an understatement. One year we hauled out a nearly naked tree! I chalked it up to the dry desert air because we watered it regularly and tried every trick to keep it fresh. Epic fail!
We've had artificial trees for many years now but I do miss the smell of fresh pine!
So, I 'fake it'! I diffuse pine scents and have bought those pine scented hangy things and placed them in our artificial tree.
It probably sounds silly but pine is the 'smell of Christmas'.
Today's card and downloadable tutorial remind me of the years my Mom hung fresh wreaths.
Ahhhhh, the smell of Christmas!

I, too, think pine is the smell of Christmas. We haven’t had a real tree in many years after the farm was sold where we would choose it and they would cut it for us to bring home. That’s about as fresh as one can get. Home baked cookies from the oven are a close second and that’s what we do now. I have seen so many really great cards using the Pretty Pines Thinlits and bundle that Santa is bringing it for me. I can get a head start on next year’s cards by using my presents. It’s a win-win for everyone, especially me. I love this card using the music paper. Thanks for the PDF file on it. Early congratulations on your anniversary! We have 44 under our belt. Each year we wonder where the time went. Have a great weekend.
Hi HJ! I look forward to your comments each day! Yes, home baked cookies – yum. I’ve had my share of ‘taste testing’ this Christmas season. I’ve been baking for the last few days and have really enjoyed the way the house smells. So happy that you’re getting this bundle as a gift. You’ll love it! Thank you, too, for the early anniversary congrats. 44 years is amazing, especially in today’s society. You’re an inspiration. Merry Christmas!
