As a child, I remember my Mom purchasing a fresh wreath every year. She either visited a local tree lot or purchased them through a fundraiser, but we always had one.

Oh, the smell of fresh pine! It's fabulous, isn't it?

In our nearly 26 years of marriage (December 29th!), Bob the Builder and I have had a real tree only twice.  During the first 6 years of our marriage we lived in Las Vegas, where he was stationed, and our real tree was dry and brittle within a week of decorating it.  To say it was a mess was an understatement. One year we hauled out a nearly naked tree!  I chalked it up to the dry desert air because we watered it regularly and tried every trick to keep it fresh.  Epic fail!

We've had artificial trees for many years now but I do miss the smell of fresh pine!

So, I 'fake it'!  I diffuse pine scents and have bought those pine scented hangy things and placed them in our artificial tree.

It probably sounds silly but pine is the 'smell of Christmas'.

Today's card and downloadable tutorial remind me of the years my Mom hung fresh wreaths.

Ahhhhh, the smell of Christmas!
