Some of you were aware that I had surgery on May 23rd. It wasn't anything complicated and my stay in the hospital was only overnight. I'm recovering well with daily improvements.
In my efforts to work ahead, so I could have time to recuperate, I filmed several videos in advance – like todays.
Like many of you, there are people in my life that have been diagnosed with breast cancer. But, the Ribbon of Courage stamp set touched my heart for more than just the "pink ribbon" reason. My friend, Judy's husband, Tom and her daughter, Stephanie, are both heart transplant recipients. A green ribbon represents organ transplant. There are ribbons for all types of cancer, awareness and causes. I saw the versatility of this stamp and was excited to design with it.
I remember photographing this card and thinking I'll probably never use this card. I was wrong.
I'd like you to meet my friend, Cindy.
Cindy and I are known as "sidelines" in the Stampin' Up! world. We both became demonstrators around the same time, while I was living in Hawaii, in 1998, under the same 'lineage'. I signed up as a demonstrator shortly before Cindy did and, since we were both new, we brainstormed and worked together. We became close friends, spending time together even when it wasn't stamping related. We shared many Stampin' Up! incentive trips together with our families since Cindy's children are around the same age as Boo.
We have nearly 19 years of memories, stories and experiences together. I've always thought of Cindy more as family than as a friend. She is generous and hospitable. She's a great encourager, positive and has always exemplified Christ.
The day after my surgery I found out that Cindy was diagnosed with breast cancer. I spent the first few days in denial – as I have with all my friends that have been diagnosed. We spent nearly an hour on the phone and she shared the details of her diagnosis and upcoming treatment. As much as I feel sad that my sweet friend has to endure this, she reminded me that she's walking in God's plan for her life. Once again, that positive, Christ-like attitude shines through! She's not fearful. She's got courage!
While I had no idea how I'd ever use this card, God knew. I'll be sending this card to Cindy when the time is right. Please join me in praying that God will heal her, keeping her strong and encouraged as she walks through this journey.
The video tutorial for today's card, along with pictures, cutting dimensions and supplies are included below. Here's to Cindy's courage!

Beautiful card, Lisa, for a beautiful, courageous friend. I’ll keep both of you in my prayers. I must have missed your post if you mentioned your surgery. I’m so happy to hear you are on the mend. Have a blessed day!
Hi HJ! I didn’t post about my upcoming surgery on my blog so you didn’t miss it. It wasn’t a complicated surgery and I knew my hospital stay would just be overnight. Thanks for the prayers for both Cindy and myself. I’m recovering well.
Hi Frenchie! I had no idea you fought cancer. You’re courageous as well. Thank you for the prayers. I know that Cindy feels them.
Thank you Lisa for sharing the great video. I’m glad your surgery went well. Prayers for quick recovery and prayers for your friend Cindy. As a breast cancer survivor I know the effect of much needed prayer as she walks through this stage of her life with Christ at her side.
Thank you for the amazing words of encouragement. I appreciate you sharing, too, how you’ve conquered a similar journey as Cindy. She’s having additional surgery today so prayers are always appreciated. I shared today’s verse with Cindy: Isiah 41:13
Thank you for sharing that verse. There are so many verses that state “fear not”. When He is by our side, we can focus on Him and not our circumstances. Jeremiah 29:11. I pray today’s surgery went well.
Jeremiah 29:11 – my life verse! 😀 Thanks so much, Kathy. I haven’t heard from Cindy yet but I’m assuming she’s home resting. I’ll check in with her tomorrow.
