Writing the word 'stencil' for this blog title brought back a memory. I recalled the time I stenciled a border in our Hawaii kitchen. I used a dry stenciling brush, stood on a step stool and used navy paint for a solid week! As much as I hated the process, I loved the result. That was 1997.
Stencils are still around but nowadays they are used mostly in paper crafts. Stampin' Up! has introduced a new product called the Pattern Party Decorative Masks (aka "stencils"). These masks can be used with a sponge, a dauber or Embossing Paste. Beginning next Thursday I will be featuring the new Embossing Paste in a four-week quick tip series. You won't want to miss the tips and techniques I'll be sharing on this new texture paste.
Before we forge into the paste techniques I wanted to teach a layering technique that provides several shades of color with either one or two different masks. The video also includes two completed cards for which I've included pictures and cutting dimensions below.
I think you'll agree that this simple $6.00 product is worthy of being on your wish list. Oh, and in case you missed it, I shared a video on how to make your own custom masks using your favorite dies. You can view that video HERE.
