In the spring of 2009, Boo was invited to go on a missions trip to Peru. This invitation was special because it came from her once 5th grade teacher, Mrs. Lopez. Our relationship with Mrs. Lopez spanned more than just Boo’s 5th grade year in school. Mrs. Lopez attended the same church, she continued to be a mentor in Boo’s life and she is a paper crafter. We have become good friends over the past 8 years!
I knew Boo wanted to go and I also knew the experience would change and mold her. As the trip neared, she was still short in her fundraising efforts, as were several others in hopes of going on various other missions locations. So I did what I know I can do. I helped organize the first ever “Crop for Missions” at Bay Life Church.
Eight years have passed and these events are still going strong! Collectively we have raised over $33,000 and dozens of people have gone on missions trips, Over the years our fundraising has bridged over into the church’s youth ministries as well.

This year’s crop will Friday, October 6 from 6:30 – 11pm, and/or Saturday, October 7 from 9am – 5pm.
There’ll be “Make and Take” stations (for a nominal fee), a silent auction (including retired Stampin’ Up!® products), and raffle baskets valued between $150 and $300.
Bring your own supplies to work on your paper crafting projects in a well-lit and fun atmosphere. Your registration fee is tax deductible, and includes continental breakfast, home cooked lunch, drinks and snacks all day, plus scrapbook/crop space, swap table, goodie bags, and door prizes!
Make & Take Projects – On Saturday, you’ll have an opportunity to create cards, 3D projects and/or scrapbook layouts for a nominal fee that is tax deductible. Local artisans have donated their time and supplies to provide these Make & Take Projects for you.
Receive a discount by registering early! When you pay by October 1, the cost is only $25 for Friday night, $30 for Saturday, or $45 for both. Walk-ins are welcome with a registration fee of $30 for Friday night, $35 for Saturday or $55 for both, if space is available. The Spring Crop was a huge success: Saturday sold out 6 weeks in advance!
