What’s the first thing that comes to mind when I say “plastic flamingo yard stake”?
Florida, right?
I’m giggling as I type this because this is one of the biggest stereotypes. And, apparently the other 800+ neighbors living in my community don’t like plastic flamingos either. I haven’t seen one in any of my neighbors yards.
Don’t get me wrong, I love the bird and that’s why the Fabulous Flamingo stamp set caught my eye. Ok, well, it also caught my attention because it makes the best – and funniest – “welcome to the neighborhood card”, too! ((smile))
Today’s video features the new Ruffled Dynamic 3D embossing folder for this striking panel card. I’ll provide numerous tips about using this photopolymer stamp set and creating a faux layer technique on the image.
I’ve included cutting dimensions, pictures and supplies below.
Oh, and I thought you would find it funny – I have an aunt and uncle that have a winter home in Florida and guess what they have in their yard?! ((grin))

Cutting Dimensions
- Flirty Flamingo and Whisper White cardstock panels are cut 1 1/4″ x 4″.
- Whisper white cardstock banner is cut 3/4″ x 2 1/4″

This is a gorgeous card. Love that ruffle and that you show us how to use. Funny thing plastic flamingos are big business in ” my hood ” . Baby delivery even a flamingo for each year of age . My I’d have quite a flock. Someone right off Lake Harriet in Minneapolis where I live even has a large pink plastic flamingo like blue up toy looking over the white picket fence in their yard I’ll send you a picture in my next card.
Very cute card! I was happy to see the Ruffled Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder up close. Pink flamingos are AWESOME. In my community you can make a charitable donation to have someone’s lawn “flocked”–and you can wake up to find up to anywhere from a dozen to 96 plastic pink flamingos in your front lawn! It is hilarious. I have yet to see, though, a flock of pink flamingos in someone’s lawn in January, up to their necks in snow–lol! Thanks, Lisa, for another great card design.
Cute as can be. I love it! Thanks, Lisa.
Thank you, Susan! It was lots of fun to make.
Hi Cindy Jo! Now I’m feeling bad about my pink flamingo comment. I see several people are very fond of them and yes, of course, there are ‘flock fundraisers’. I didn’t even think of that. I just giggle when I see them because the stereotype is that all Floridian have them in our yards. We don’t! LOL ;D Thanks for stopping by today!
I actually want to put some in my front yard just to be retro! lol!
Hi Gaeyl! I was just replying to Cindy Jo’s comment, too. I didn’t take into consideration the “flock fundraising”/business that is out there with pink flamingos. Glad you like the card. That embossing folder is fabulous!
Cindy Jo! LOL You always make me smile! 😀
