If you’ve followed my blog for at least a year you’ve heard about our Halloween tradition. For those of you that are new, here goes.
Bob the Builder and I have enjoyed 16 Halloween’s while living in this house. Florida weather is always beautiful on October 31st so we set up a card table and a few lawn chairs in our driveway. It’s my responsibility to get the Halloween candy and I fill the biggest bowl we own until it’s overflowing. I don’t give out the cheap candy either – I give away the ‘hard stuff’ – CHOCOLATE! Every year I’ve emptied the bowl and have had to refill it. We get hundreds of kids!
Halloween’s aren’t like they used to be when I was a kid. The little ones don’t trick or treat alone and for good reason. We enjoy passing out candy to each child which allows us time to mingle with the kids and their parents. Our Halloween tradition allows us time to reconnect with neighbors and provides a safe environment the kids.
I have three great nephews, Jack, Henry and Luke who are already excited about choosing their Halloween costumes. I enjoy creating cards for each of them and this is one of them.
I used the Holiday Catalog stamp set “Spooky Cat’ for this card. You’re probably wondering, “where’s the cat?”. That’s the best part of this stamp set. Potion beakers, rats, an owl and other images make this set versatile enough to create different Halloween cards without duplication. That’s perfect for me since I need to make a different one for each boy.
The textured stamp made creating these wood planks easy. Instead of nails I used the new Black Rhinestones. I was sure to stamp all the images before I used the Brick Wall Embossing Folder. And no coloring! This set includes images that fill the beakers!
I created the tag by hand. No measuring, just stamping and cutting. It doesn’t have to be perfect. Heck, the boys won’t care and let’s face it – the uneven edges lend credence to this eerie card!
This card was entered in the Simon Says: Stamptember Stamp It Challenge
