Welcome to Our Block Tutorial
I’m from the era of “welcome wagons”. As a child, our town had a group of people that made up the ‘welcome wagon’. They would gather pertinent information (phone numbers and addresses) that new homeowners would need – the post office, local grocery stores, fire and police departments, etc. They created a pamphlet of this information that included a letter welcoming them to the area. Information was placed in a basket, along with several coupons for local eateries and a small gift such as homemade jam. The ‘welcome wagon’ would deliver the basket to the new homeowners, typically the week they were moving in. Newcomers loved the discount restaurant coupons during a time it was too hectic to cook. More importantly, it was a gesture to say ‘we’re glad you’re living here’.
Do you have a new family in your neighborhood? Make a hand stamped card and attach it to a loaf of homemade banana bread or a box of bakery cookies. This gesture will bridge the gap that many of us feel when we’ve moved somewhere new. I hope today’s tutorial will spark your creativity to share a welcome with a new neighbor!

Supplies:
- Stamps: In the City (Host Exclusive – 143771)
- Inks: Lemon Lime Twist (144086), Pool Party (126982), Basic Black Archival Stampin’ Ink (140931)
- Paper: Whisper White (100730) Lemon Lime Twist (144245)
- Other: Rhinestone Basic Jewels (144220), Big Shot (143263), Stitched Shapes Framelits (145372)
Measurements:
- Whisper White (base): 5-1/2” x 8-1/2”, folded in half
- Whisper White: scrap
- Lemon Lime Twist (layer): 4 1/8” x 5 3/8”
Instructions:
- Stamp the outline house image using black ink on white cardstock scrap. Stamp the tree image using black ink on the right side of the house image. Stamp the greeting using black ink below the house/tree.
- Using the solid image stamps, stamp the center of the tree, the door to the house and the grass using Lemon Lime Twist ink.
- Using the solid image stamp, stamp the center of the house using Pool Party ink.
- Adhere the Lemon Lime Twist layer to the card base.
- Die cut the largest Stitched Shapes Circle framelit using white cardstock scrap. Adhere the circle to the right bottom corner of the card base. Trim away the excess circle using your scissors. TIP: Open up the card and trim from the inside, using the inside edge of the cardstock as a guide.
- Add rhinestones to the card base as shown.
