Traditionally we put up our Christmas decorations the day after Thanksgiving. My surgery is scheduled for November 28th and some days I’m feeling a bit “punk” so we chose to put them up on a day I was feeling good. Last weekend we spent two days fussing over the trees and lights. Since I’m a lover of all things Christmas, I now get to enjoy the decorations a bit longer. Another annual tradition begins this week, too.

Between Black Friday and Christmas Day, at 9:00 PM, someone yells “it’s cocoa time”. You might think we’re fancy and use real cocoa, whipped cream and milk – and sometimes we do – but most nights it’s a souped-up version of Swiss Miss and mini marshmallows. I have no idea how we ward off the pounds this time of year between the cookies and cocoa!

I created today’s card with cocoa time in mind. I used the Merry Cafe stamp set along with the Coffee Cups Framelits. The Be Merry Designer Paper is filled with traditional patterns and I couldn’t resist adding some to this card. The scallop border was created using the Seasonal Layers Thinlit dies and tucked under a banner that I stamped with snowflakes from the Merry Cafe stamp set.

Did you notice the cocoa ring near the greeting? That image is part of the Timeless Textures stamp set. I added a few metallic sequins to the card alongside a few tiny pearls for a little texture.

Do you have a Christmas tradition? Tell me about it by leaving me a comment.

What a great tradition! Thinking of you this morning.
May GOD bless you and keep you today during your surgery. My Christmas tradition is to have an Open House with lots of food, fellowship and fun . I fix about 40 bags of gifts (odds and ends). No one leaves hungry or gift less.
Thinking of you and keeping you in my prayers, Lisa. Our traditions start with cutting our tree at a tree farm where we have hot chocolate and cookies, then home again to decorate our tree and house. December Sundays follow with Advent services…my husband’s school band concert…the Children’s Service…Christmas Eve candlelight service followed by our small family gathering for food and gift-giving…Christmas morning worship service…Christmas dinner…and that afternoon watching our favorite Christmas movies!
God bless you and grant you a rapid recovery.
Wishing you a quick and full recovery after your surgery. Dream of new card creations and some yummy warm dessert!
I read your blog each morning with my coffee and enjoy your talent and creativity.
Be safe in your recovery.
Shirley
We have hot chocolate every night too! We also watch lots of Christmas movies! We love looking at our ornaments we have picked out in years past and share memories together!
Lisa, Great card….I hope to get at least 10 of these done this weekend….Christmas is just around the corner and my goal is to make 10 cards a weekend….I have 2 girls trying to do the same thing….God bless and Merry Christmas!!
So happy your done with the procedure and recovery . Thanks for sharing info and hope your hospital serves the very best solid chocolate and good food.
My family and I watch a Christmas movie; one each night starting the day after Black Friday. We enjoy every single one, every year. On Christmas eve after we get home from service, we watch the Reginald Owen’s version of a Christmas Carol. We’ve done this for decades, and we collect new movies as they come out. Haven’t had a really good one though for a while. Then on New Year’s eve, we watch Holiday Inn. It’s such a special time for us.
Hope you’re doing well tonight. Thinking of you and praying for you too, of course.
Grace for a quick recovery and healing.
