Have you noticed the new Brusho in the Occasions Catalog? These watercolor crystals are like magic! Sprinkle them over water-washed cardstock (Watercolor Paper and Shimmery White cardstock are my personal favorites) and watch the colors burst! This painting medium boasts highly pigmented colors of dry crystalline powder. One reason I’m loving this stuff is because it’s got a mind of it’s own. There’s very little control involved which means each background is unique.
You can use Brusho to paint in images, create washed backgrounds and you can use it as a base for a technique. I’ve got a video series coming up on this new product that will have you convinced you need it!
The feathers of the free Sale-A-Bration stamp set “Beautiful Peacock” were screaming Brusho. I used a piece of watercolor paper and wet it using one of the Stampin’ Spritzers. Here’s where the fun begins – tap on a little of the Brusho crystals and watch the color emerge and spread. It’s really quite fascinating!
I’ve been experimenting with the colors included – Brilliant Red, Gamboge (orange), Moss Green, Prussian Blue and Yellow. These five pots have an abundant amount of crystals and you only need a little bit. Because the crystals are so fine – and pigmented – you shouldn’t open the lid. Instead, poke a few holes using your Paper-Piercing Tool or a push pin. You can seal the pots with Washi Tape or, in my case, I poked the holes close together so the head of a push pin covers them.
Be sure to let the paper dry before stamping. I’ve blotted the Watercolor Paper in this same which resulted in a more muted background. Yes, this is muted! These crystals are that vibrant!
