Watercolor Paper is one of my favorites. Despite how inept I feel about watercoloring it allows me to look like a true artist. This 140-lb. cold-pressed paper is amazingly absorbent making it perfect for washed backgrounds like the one I created on today’s Magical Mermaid card.
I started by embossing the circles from the Playful Background stamp set with white embossing powder. Once the paper cooled, I used my Aqua Painter and watered down Bermuda Bay ink to create a random wash across the paper. I purposely covered the bubble so they would stand out.
While the paper was drying, I stamped the mermaid on Thick Whisper White cardstock using Memento ink. I colored her body using the Calypso Coral Stampin’ Blends Combos then used the Ivory Stampin’ Blends for her face and arms. The Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blends Combos were used for her hair. I absolutely LOVE these alcohol-based markers!
If you haven’t tried the Stampin’ Blends yet I’d love to give you a little nudge. Check out my video series on how to use these markers.

And not too many cards leave the stamp studio without some bling on them. I added the Glitter & Clear Epoxy Shapes (circles) for texture – and a little sparkle.
I heat embossed the greeting using white embossing powder which really sets it apart from the background. There’s a framelit for all the images in the Magical Day Bundle and included are dies for waves, bubbles, seaweed/ferns and the banner.
Did you notice that the Watercolor Paper is mounted above the designer paper edge? I used the Foam Adhesive Strips to provide the perfect stability to this card front. Ohhhh, and that bubble designer paper – ((squeal)) – it’s part of the Myths & Magic Specialty Designer Paper pack. This entire suite of products can be found on page 37 of the Occasions Catalog.
SPOILER ALERT! This bundle plus the Glitter & Clear Epoxy Shapes will be part of my February Studio Stamps in the Mail! And, since it’s Sale-A-Bration, you’ll also get to choose a Sale-A-Bration product for free with the February SSITM edition. On the fence about this Bundle? Wait until you see the cards! The sneak peek is coming soon!
