I’m continuing my series on Brusho watercolor crystals. Today’s video is week three in my series and will teach you how to use them with – ready – spray starch! I’ll teach you three different ways to use the Brusho and the spray starch to create unique backgrounds. Although the video doesn’t include my completed cards (I had to wait for the samples to dry), I’ve included them in this blog post. Be sure to scroll down to see them, along with the supplies for the cards.
If you missed the first few videos in this series you can view them at the links below. Remember, too, that you can order all the supplies in my online store. I offer exclusive and generous REWARDS for your orders. Details about my REWARDS program can be found HERE.

Hi Bernice! I’m so glad you enjoyed the video and the completed cards. Thanks for stopping by!
What an impressive technique Lisa. Thank you so much for demonstrating.
Hi Karen! Thrilled you liked it!
Lisa, these are amazing. I love the effect. My question is…why spray starch? How is that different from using a squirt bottle with water? I’m just curious. Thanks for all your amazing ideas and tips.
Hi Margie! I received this same question on my YouTube channel today and I’m happy to answer it. The spray starch has a chemical base to it that allows the Brusho crystals to react in a different way. None of these techniques will look the same with just water. The plastic wrap will form around the spray starch to create the texture you see. Water will simply dry up and not leave the embedded creases. Same with the paper towel. The starch also allows the Brusho to form a pebble finish that’s quite different than water. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching!
I love your technique and cards. How did you ever decide to use spray starch? I am going to try it and thank you for doing the series.
Hi Karen! I’ve seen a few completed projects using the saran wrap idea so I decided I’d try it for myself. Once I realized it actually worked I tried the paper towel and various other textures like bubble wrap, cork, etc. Once the can of spray starch was out I just decided to keep playing. So much fun and quite addicting! So glad you liked the cards. Thanks for coming by to watch and for your comment.
Your cards are just beautiful! Thanks so much for sharing!
