I used a Whisper White cardstock base cut 4″ x 8″ and added a layer of Watercolor Paper measuring 3 3/4″ x 3 3/4″. I used a combination of ink colors to achieve the final result you see here. Begin wetting the Watercolor Paper using the Stampin’ Spritzer. I added the lightest color of blue first (Marina Mist). Squeeze the closed lid of your ink pad. Open the pad and there will be a pool of ink inside the lid. I used my Aqua Painter to pick up the color and randomly dabbed in on the wet paper. The wet Watercolor Paper allows the color to bleed creating a random pattern. It’s important that you let each color dry before applying the next one or they will simply blend together. I’m a bit impatient while I’m creating so I sped up the drying process by using my Heat Tool. The best part of creating these types of backgrounds is that they are fool proof! You simply can’t make a mistake and each creation will be unique.
I stamped the whale from the Message in a Bottle stamp set using Smoky Slate ink and adhered it using Mini Dimensionals. The Iridescent Sequin Assortment has a large array of colors and this blue hue worked perfectly to mimic bubbles.
The Watercolor Paper was added to the card base using Dimensionals. I loved the added depth that this layer provides to this simple card. I confess, I made half dozen of these cards because they were that easy – and fast!
