The simplest of cards can have a stunning impact when you add a little “surprise”. The Heart Happiness stamp set coupled with the Sweet & Sassy Framelits creates the perfect open heart card.
The Whisper White card base to today’s card was cut 4 14″ x 8 1/2″ and folded in half. The Petal Passion Designer Paper was cut to fit the entire card base – an important step if you’re going to die cut through the front of the card as I’ve done here.
I used the Sweet & Sassy Framelits to die cut the heart opening which left me with the negative heart-shape opening. It’s the perfect window to view the inside of the card.
I stamped the floral heart image using Tuxedo Black Memento ink. Memento ink is my preferred ink choice for photopolymer stamps since I find the staining, normal on photopolymer, is a lot less than when I use Basic Black Archival ink. I used another die from the same collection to die cut the shape, mounting it directly through the opening for perfect alignment. These dies come in two different shaped hearts with graduated sizes making them perfect for layering.
The flowers were colored in using a sponge dauber, Melon Mambo and Calypso Coral ink pads. The ink coverage on the sponge dauber is deceiving. It seems lighter than it is so use a light hand when applying the ink. If you prefer them darker, you can always go back over the image a second time.
I stamped an additional flower from the same image on scrap white cardstock and colored it in with the dauber and Melon Mambo ink then cut it out with my scissors. I used a Mini Dimensional to mount it and applied small pearls to the center of random flowers.
The 1/8″ Sheer Whisper White ribbon is the perfect size for the top of this card. As a side note, did you know you can use your markers to change the color of this ribbon? It’s a great tip for color coordinated projects!

What a very pretty card and a lovely way to make it a little bit more special. I love to see something stamped inside a card; this way it is stamped inside and out too! :O)
