Today I’m sharing my best tip for adding clear sticker to rubber stamp!
Clear mount stamps have a clear sticker and are intended to be adhered to the rubber stamp to ensure placement. However, adhering the clear sticker leaves many stampers with mixed reviews. Some claim the stamp won’t stick to the block with the clear sticker. Other stampers have no problem. And if you’re like me, I can’t stamp without them. I literally have no idea what direction the image lays without the clear sticker indication.
If you’re having trouble getting your stamps to remain on the clear block, watch my quick tip video about cleaning your clear blocks HERE.
Today’s quick tip video will provide discussion and a demonstration for adding the clear sticker to your rubber stamps. Do you remove the entire sticker than adhere it to your stamp? Or perhaps you prefer to dislodge the stamp from the rubber frame to mount the clear sticker? I’ve even seen stampers use a black Sharpie marker to scribble the border around the clear sticker to mount the image upside down. There are lots of methods stampers use to add the clear sticker to their rubber stamps, and none of them are wrong.
This video shows how I adhere all my clear stickers and it’s my hope that my tip about removing just half the paper backing will help you remove air bubbles and the sticky frustration that some endure when placing the clear sticker on the rubber stamp.

Hi Linda! This tip for adhering them works so well, especially on the larger images like the one I used in the video plus background stamps. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for the tip. I will try this next time.
It works so well, Rebecca. Let me know what you think after you try it. Thanks for coming by today!
Because of the negative comments, I have never added the clear stickers to my stamps. Your way looks so easy, so I think I will give it a try.
One question – I had heard not to use alcohol on clear blocks. If you can use the hand sanitizer on the mounts, can you also use it on the Stamparatus without any problems/damage? Thanks.
Hi Nana! I’m glad you’ll give this a try. Maintaining a clean block is critical to the image adhering well. The hand sanitizer works wonderfully and doesn’t compromise the block at all. However, I do not recommend using any harsh chemicals (and I consider alcohol a harsh chemical) on the Stamparatus. Thanks for watching and for your comment.
The instructions that come with the Stamperatus say no alcohol. This would mean regular rubbing alcohol, wipes with alcohol, and hand sanitizer.
Hi Trish! I think there’s some confusion. The tip I shared here is about applying the sticker to the clear mount stamp. I also shared how to clean the clear block with hand sanitizer. I don’t mention using alcohol (or hand sanitizer) on the Stamparatus, which would be considered an abrasive cleaner and not safe for the Stamparatus plates. I hope that clears up your concern. Thanks for stopping by.
Love the way you have shown this technique
Thank you, Sue! I am glad you found this helpful! Thanks for stopping by today.
Great tips. I also add a thin layer of Tombow to the top of the sticker part of the stamp and let it dry. It helps stick them to the block. Especially useful for those teeny sentiments.
Hi Jennifer! Thanks for the added tip.
Thank you Lisa for sharing this tip!! I have been needing to do this for my red rubber stamps and had wanted to watch a tutorial and so glad you did a video. I am visual learner so it helps me to see how you adhere the stickers. Definitely will be trying this thanks for sharing your short video tips I always learn something new!
