A snowman screams a slider card to me so today I have a special treat showing you how to make a snowman slider card!
This adorable skating snowman instantly had me thinking of an interactive handmade card. Some of you may know this as a penny spinner card. It’s easy to create and I’ve included a video tutorial at then end of this blog post with step by step instructions so you can make your own slider card.
Need unique Christmas cards? This is a fun paper craft project!!
I used the Spirited Snowman stamp set (Holiday Catalog page 38). Growing up in the suburbs of Chicago, I have the best memories of building snowmen. Winters in Illinois are incredibly long and cold but nothing beat the winter blues than bundling up (which seemed to take an hour!) and heading out for some fresh, crisp air and what we called “snowman construction”! My grandmother would place a pile of misfit clothing items in a plastic laundry basket and we would take it outside and construct and decorate for as long as we could tolerate the cold. The best part was the hot cocoa and marshmallows she would have waiting for us when we came inside.
This slider card uses two pennies, nestled between a Mini Dimensional. These smaller Dimensionals are the perfect size so they don’t impede on the penny and slider card track. I’ll give you lots of tips about making the track and placement of the pennies in the video. I’ll also share a really important tip on where to place the full size Dimensionals on the back of the slider card so that your image moves effortlessly.
Just think of all the wonderful images you could use on your slider cards. Birds, dogs, cats, reindeer – the list goes on. This fun card will have your family and friends shaking, spinning and sliding it for hours! This card making design is also perfect for DIY Birthday card ideas!
Cutting Dimensions
- Real Red cardstock base is cut 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″
- Whisper White cardstock layer is cut 4″ x 5 1/4″
- Crumb Cake cardstock layer is cut 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″
- Thick Whisper White cardstock was used for the snowman image for maximum coloring benefits using the Stampin’ Blends

Hi! Lisa, Thanks so much for showing us how to make this cute interactive card. I have made several of them, depending on the theme of the birthday. The last one I made was of a golf ball sliding across, with happy birthday in the slot underneath and I drew a golfer in black silhouette with a golf club in his hand for my Grandson’s 12th birthday. and added grass, birds and a golf flag that said 12 on it. This card was so much fun to make.
Thanks again, I really like watching all your wonderful videos!
Take care, Joan
