You’re going to love this velvet Snowflake Christmas Greeting Card (or ‘winter’/seasonal card)! You can’t help but relate snowflakes with Christmas! But these snowflakes have no risk of melting – other than your heart – because they are die cut using white velvet paper!
I used the limited edition Snowfall Thinlits dies and paired it with the coordinating Snow is Glistening stamp set to create today’s card. I demonstrated a new technique of coloring the velveteen paper that I didn’t want you to miss so I’ve included the video recording below. These products are only available through November 30 or while supplies last!
Not only are these dies gorgeous – they are abundant. There are 20 dies in the set and they coordinate with two different stamp sets, both part of the Snowflake Showcase stamp sets. And the stamps and dies aren’t just for snowflakes! Also available is the “Happiness Surrounds” stamp set that’s packed with floral, leaf and greeting images – and yes, they fit in these same dies!
I colored the white velvet paper to color coordinate with the cardstock . Not only is this technique easy, it’s fast! Use of this amazing die will provide the most stunning – and touch worthy – snowflake – and beyond – cards! And if you think the velveteen paper is difficult to die cut – think again! I share coloring and die cutting tips in the video.
Snowflake Details
Sparkle adds just the right amount of realism to any snowflake card so I lined the Shimmery White cardstock layer with Silver Foil Sheets and heat embossed the greeting to coordinate. Stunning, isn’t it? And look at the detail of these dies!
A small silver brad provides the perfect touch and keeps these delicate snowflakes in place without messing with adhesive or glue. You’ll find he Metallic Brads assortment on page 198 of the annual catalog.

Don’t Waste the Negative Image
This second card uses the negative image from the large snowflake. I used the Snowfall Thinlits to die cut the flowers and sprigs for the focal point of this medallion card. Look at that gorgeous texture of the velvet paper!
The Mint Macaron brad on this card is from the Basic Brads assortment (page 198 of the annual catalog).
