Heat embossing on acetate can be tricky if you’ve never attempted it. Today’s quick tip video will provide numerous tips for heat embossing on acetate – stamping, powdering and heat setting an image. I’ve also added in tips on how to provide color to your stamped and heat embossed acetate images using the Stampin’ Blends. These alcohol based markers can color just about anything! If you haven’t experimented with them yet, I hope today’s video will entice you.
Unlike stamping on cardstock, you do not have to prep acetate with the Embossing Buddy when heat embossing on acetate. Another important thing to know is that acetate is very staticy which means the embossing powder will want to stick everywhere. But don’t worry. I’ll demonstrate an easy way to remove the excess!
And if you love shimmer and sparkle as much as I do, you’ll love adding your heat embossing acetate pieces to glimmer paper. The video shares two glimmer paper samples – silver and sparkle. With two choices, you can decide just how much pizzazz your projects need.

Wow, Lisa!
I didn’t know I could heat emboss on acetate. What a great idea to place it on glitter paper. Beautiful! Thank you for sharing!
You sure can, Lorna! I’m so glad that the video was helpful. Laying the acetate over the glimmer paper is stunning – especially in person! I hope you’ll give it a try! Thanks for coming by today and watching.
Thanks Lisa, the flowers are stunning and heat embossing on acetate is new for me. Thanks for the great tip.
So glad you liked the card, Bernice! Thank you for coming by to watch.
Absolutely love this technique, one I will CASE. However, I do. It have any alcohol pens. Can I use the SU markers? I always look forward watching your videos and tips via my email. Thank you.
Hi Kathy! Only alcohol-based markers will work on the backside of acetate. Regular markers are dye-based and will rub off. You won’t be disappointed in the Stampin’ Blends! They are amazing and incredibly affordable. You can find them in my online store here: https://www.stampinup.com/ecweb/search/stampin'%20blends?dbwsdemoid=16275
