This DIY note card tutorial with coloring techniques will provide tips on how to achieve beautiful images using the Stampin’ Blends. Whether you’re coloring a rooster or a birthday cake, the step-by-step tips I provide in today’s video will provide professional results.
Stampin’ Blends can be used individually or in a color combination. I’ve used them both ways on today’s card proving easy for even the newest stamper. Coloring techniques are easy using these alcohol-based markers simply because you can layer color as many times as needed to achieve the results you’re looking for. The secret is taking your time and using Thick Whisper White cardstock.

Rooster images can be colored in a array of tones. Experiment with this layout using designer paper you already own or choose the Botanical Butterfly Designer Paper for free during Sale-A-Bration! The Home to Roost stamp set is also a free selection, too!
Layering punch sizes can give a simple image a lot of impact. Here’s I’ve used the 2″ Circle Punch, 2 1/4″ Circle Punch and the Starburst Punch. Here’s a tip. Your base punch layer should be your darkest color. Select your colors from the designer paper you choose or the image you’ve colored.
Don’t miss the tips in the video about aligning the designer paper panels. A little adhesive and a watchful eye will have them perfectly aligned!
Cutting Dimensions
- Cherry Cobbler cardstock base is cut 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″
- Botanical Butterfly Designer Paper are each cut 1 1/4″ x 5 1/4″
- Whisper White cardstock banner is cut 1/2″ x 4 1/4″
- Cherry Cobbler cardstock banner layer is cut 5/8″ x4 1/4″
