I’ve got a watercolor technique that you need to know how to create…and the best part – it requires no experience! I’ve packed today’s watercolor technique video with tips to achieve gorgeous results.
You’ll need Watercolor Paper, an Aqua Painter and two ink pads. I use a Heat Tool in my my video to speed up the drying process (ok, I’m a bit impatient when I’m creating) but you can certainly allow the cardstock to air dry. And just look at the gorgeous results!

Watercolor Technique Details
Although Shimmery White cardstock is quite resilient to water, I recommend using Watercolor Paper for this watercolor technique. The density of this paper allows for multiple layers of water, color and drying. And it’s foolproof!
The Let It Ride stamp set (Occasions Catalog, page 45) features majestic images and unique greetings. Whether creating watercolor technique backgrounds, birthday cards or cards of encouragement, you’ll find this stamp set a perfect addition to your stamp collection.
Outline images take on a whole new dimension when using this watercolor technique for backgrounds. This is definitely a card you can create lots of, watercoloring each one in succession. Change up the colors to appeal to the receiver and you’ll have a stunning card in minutes!
This card was included in the Simon Says: Anything Goes Challenge.
Watercolor Technique Tip
Keep in mind that mixing colors while the Watercolor Paper is wet will only result in a muddy mess. Be aware that colors blended can create another tone. For example, yellow and blue will create green in areas that overlap. Practice on a scrap piece of Watercolor Paper if you’re unsure about the results and let your imagine run wild!
