My Ikea craft room has been a joy to work in. And is it any surprise that I’ve found myself back at Ikea a half dozen times since purchasing the Kallax unit? Their storage boxes are the perfect sizes for lots of things and incredibly priced and assemble in seconds! Watch how I used them today to organize my ribbon spools. I’m also sharing how I store my ribbon scraps and even provide you with a few suggestions on how to use – or share them.

The Ikea Fjalla Storage Box with Lid is perfect for holding spools of ribbon. Measuring 9 3/4″ x 14 1/4″ x 7 3/4″, I’m able to fit 19-25 spools, depending on the spool thickness, in each box. Although the boxes come with a lid, I have saved them should I ever decide to repurpose these boxes.
Twine spools are easy to wrangle in a small plastic bin. I purchased mine at the Dollar Tree. They come in an array of colors and typically in a 2-pack. Don’t miss the tip I share in today’s video about using rubber bands to tame the loose ends during storage.

Do you save the last few inches of ribbon/ twine on a spool? If so, how do you store them? I’ve used this 1.5 quart resealable plastic container for more than 5 years. I’m not able to provide you with a shopping link since this specific style is no longer available but there are lots of other suitable choices. Check big box stores, Amazon and the Container Store for great options.
