Learn how to stencil on glitter cardstock in 3 simple steps with today’s quick tip video.
I was recently making a baby card and wanted to use a stencil background but I also wanted glitter. While I know I could have added glitter I felt pulled to experiment with glitter cardstock. I was amazed at how easy it was to create beautiful, glittery backgrounds using a stencil and a sponge dauber. And you will be too! This technique makes the most celebratory birthday cards, baby cards, and more!!

Stenciling Details
Experiment stenciling with different colors of glitter cardstock. Stampin’ Up! offers Sparkle (which I’ve used here), Gold, Silver and Rose. When using darker colors of glitter cardstock be sure to use darker colors of ink.
I experimented with different ways to apply the color to the glitter cardstock and found the sponge dauber the best. Remember, glitter cardstock has a rougher surface than cardstock. Using a sponge or sponge brayer repeatedly can damage it’s soft porous surface.
The Pattern Party Decorative Masks (page 181) include four different designs; clouds, medallion, brick and lattice. These four stencils can be used with any medium from ink to embossing paste.
