During this series, you’ll receive a card sketch (also known as a card layout) plus several samples using the sketch. Card sketches provide details for a layout which simplifies the design process. Card Layout Episode #2 – Sample A
The “A Little Lace” stamp set includes several images, what I call, needlepoint-type images. Looking at this stamp set, you might think each image needs to be colored in, but during tonight’s YouTube Live event, I shared how to add color without using a marker or pencil. I added a solid circle image (taken from the Broadway Bound stamp set) and chose three vibrant colors. I stamped the circle randomly over the stamped black images for a random background effect. It’s so simply even the kids can create it!
The greeting I chose was narrower than the 3/4″ x 3 3/4″ strip of cardstock so I opted to lay a smaller piece over the top with the greeting. Several iridescent sequins play up the cheerful colors and give this card a little sparkle.

Sample 2
If you like copper you’re going to love this second sample using the “Here’s a Card” stamp set. Unlike my first sample, I chose to heat emboss the greeting directly on the center cardstock strip.
The gorgeous Mosaic Mood Specialty Designer Paper looks – and feels – much like mosaic tile. The rich tones and patterns are so stunning that I didn’t want to take away from them. I added a copper Designer Element near the greeting for added texture and to enhance the copper embossed greeting. These Designer Elements (page 178) have 36 pieces; 12 each of antiqued finishes in gold, silver and copper.

Sample 3
I know I’ve got lots of purple fans! I paired this Highland Heather with Blueberry Bushel for striking layers on the Whisper White card base.
The Gingham Gala Adhesive-Backed Sequins (page 178) include 250 pieces; 25 each of 5 colors in 2 shapes. I’ve mixed and matched the sequins for some added shine to this striking card.
