Christmas Wishes Card Details

The Toile Christmas Bundle (stamp set + dies) are featured on page 7 of the Holiday Catalog. Aside from the beautiful cardinal image, there are also beautiful holiday banners, greetings and a sprig image.

The sprig image was obviously intended for the cardinal but I wanted to use it on its own. After heat embossing the image on Basic Black cardstock, I chose to add color to the lines using  – ready – watercolor pencils! The result is a gorgeous sheen that’s both subtle and elegant.

I used the Watercolor Pencils assortment 1 and 2 for the colors on this card but experiment. The darker colors appear lighter due to the embossing so even bright shades of Melon Mambo and Granny Apple Green are stunning!

This technique works best on dark cardstock and it’s important not to use a freshly sharpened pencil. In addition, you’ll find that bolder, embossed images may be easier for you to color as you learn this technique. I’ve included details about all these tips in today’s video so don’t miss watching!

Cutting Dimensions

• Basic Black cardstock base is cut 4 1/4″ x 8 1/2″, score at 4 1/4″
• Whisper White cardstock layer is cut 4″ x 4″
