Card Making Date Night – “His”

Here’s Bob the Builder’s card. You won’t want to miss the fun (and laughs) of this video. I gave verbal instructions without any pre-warning of what he would create and well, the results weren’t “exactly” like this card but he came close!

Use your clear block as a background by inking it up in a light color. Stamp it in the center of the card base. Here’s a great tip – if you’re struggling to get it straight, turn the cardstock horizontally. Then add your stamped images in the darker ink. Add a greeting and call it done! It doesn’t get any simpler. And it’s a great way to make a bunch of cards in no time at all.

Card Making Date Night – “Hers” #1

Want another fun background technique? This one uses dye-based Stampin’ Write Markers and a Spritzer filled with tap water. Scribble the color onto the block, spritz with water and stamp on Shimmery White cardstock. No photography will capture the shimmer of this cardstock but it’s gorgeous! I highly suggest treating yourself to package on your next order. You’ll thank me! 😀

Card Making Date Night – “Hers” #2

This card uses the exact same background technique but with three colors of markers versus two. The Pumpkin Pie and Poppy Parade markers bled together beautifully for this simulated sunset.

This stamp set has a coordinating set of dies called “Sweet Silhouettes”. Purchase them as a Bundle and save 10%.

Card Making Date Night – “Hers” #3

Bob the Builder loves tools so I handed him the paper trimmer and he sliced up the panels I created from the leftover watercolor background on the card above. It’s a great way to use up the scraps!

I used the Rectangle Stitched Dies for the greeting and got creative to make it smaller. Here’s a step by step illustration on how I did it. The grooves in the stitched cardstock provide the grooves to reposition the die!

Cutting Dimensions

  • Shimmery White cardstock base: 4 1/4″ x 11″, score at 5 1/2″
  • Shimmery White cardstock layer: leftovers from card #2 above. Slice the layer into any shape you’d like, being sure to leave one side straight. I adhered mine on an additional layer of Shimmery White cardstock layer for emphasis on the card base.
