Let’s jazz up those handmade cards with ink and sponges. This easy masking technique uses Post-It-Notes to create a “channel” on the card layer and sponges to add color.

Card with Masking – The Details
Whether you’re creating a card for a birthday, get well – or any occasion – just think of the possibilities this technique provides. Change up the colors for a great landscape or bright, cheerful birthday cards.
I used Post-It-Notes and the Grid Paper to mask off an area on the Whisper White cardstock. I tried low tack tape, washi tape and various other methods and every single one left behind impressions or tears in my cardstock. As you’ll see in today’s video, the Post-It-Notes are perfect, not just because of the sticky edge, but they provide a great protective canvas for the rest of the card.
Measure the opening you’ve created and cut a piece of printer paper to fit. A bit wider and longer is perfect! Then grab Stampin’ Sponges (cut into wedges) and add color!
Did you notice the splatter/dots on the paper? Wait until you see how water interacts with these inked and masked areas! My seahorse feels right at home in this underwater background.
What combination of colors will you use? Leave me a comment below.

Good morning Lisa. Just watched the video on the masking card. Loved it. This is a great masculine card. Have never tried the water spattering. Will give this a try. Thanks for sharing.

Beverly so happy to have you visit this video on Masking. I am not sure what you are referring to when you say masking magic. I used Post It notes in the video. I did use the Silicone Craft Sheet in the video. Here is the link for that: https://www.stampinup.com/products/craft-sheet-silicone I hope this helps!
