Let’s make a creative greeting card made with scrapbook paper; or as we call it in the Stampin’ Up! world, designer series paper.
Today’s card making video has a great angle! This unique fun fold card is super easy to create and provides you with creative freedom. Don’t miss the photo templates I’ve included below for two different cutting dimensions. Scroll down to see them including the pictures and all the supplies.
Be sure to order your favorite “Last Chance” (aka “retiring) products before they’re gone forever. June 2 is the last day. CLICK HERE to see them. Remember, these products are only available while supplies last.
A Creative Greeting Card with Unique Slant : Video Tutorial
This creative greeting card made with scrapbook paper/designer series paper includes a bi-fold fancy fold. I opted to cover the entire card base with designer paper which eliminates a lot of background stamping. Wait until you see all the cards I’m sharing in today’s video!

A Creative Greeting Card: Details – Layout #1
The slant on this card starts on the left and goes all the way to the top right. Mark off your starting point and use your trimmer for perfect alignment. The photo template I’ve included below has all the details.
Adhere the designer paper to the cardstock before cutting and scoring. This will insure that everything is properly aligned. Be sure to use liquid glue to adhere the two pieces. I found that adhesive created too much buckling. Once you’ve scored, all that remains is the “fun part” – decorating! I used the Butterfly Gala stamp set and the coordinating Butterfly Duet Punch to highlight this beautiful poppy watercolor-inspired paper.
This card will require you to create your own custom envelope. If you don’t mind a little extra space, a business size #10 envelope will work, too.
A Creative Greeting Card: Idea #2
The Ornate Garden Specialty Designer Series Paper includes beautiful foil accents on one side of some of the sheets. And as if that wasn’t enough, the other side boasts floral patterns, perfect for all kinds of occasions.
The entire Ornate Garden Suite of products will be in the new catalog debuting on June 3. But if you’re like me, and want it now, you can! CLICK HERE to see the quick video and HERE to view the individual products.
Cutting Dimensions
- The photo template below includes all the cutting dimensions. Print or “pin it” to your favorite Pinterest board for quick reference.
- Cut the designer paper after adhering it to the cardstock. Watch the video for details.
- The belly band for the daisy card is cut 1″ x 8 1/2″ and creased along the edges as it was folded.
A Creative Greeting Card: Layout #2
Look closely and you’ll see that this layout is a bit different. The inside top right of this card was left straight, versus the angled cut on the first layout. Rather than cutting up to the top right corner, stop at the second score line for a different look! This card layout fits in a medium size envelope.
My photo template provides all the cutting and scoring dimensions for you. Follow the same steps to assemble this card as you did in layout #1. Feel free to change up the depth of the left side by tweaking the beginning cutting mark. Instead of marking the left at 3 1/2″ (see below), navigate this number higher or lower.

Love it! Video was so fun/funny! Love it!
Hi Marilyn! Well, I messed up, that’s for sure. But it happens to all of us. I just rolled with it…and my mom is loving her card! 😀
This card has been on my brain ever since your video! This card may have just convinced me to go and purchase the entire Peaceful Poppies Suite bundle plus a few extras! I’ve been eyeing up this set for a few months and figured if I was going to do it I better get it before it goes away! Thank you for doing the video with this set. I cannot wait to make some similar in style to this one!
You won’t be disappointed Maureen! It’s a huge seller for good reason. Have a great day!
Will they be bringing back the Peaceful Poppies paper collection? So sad it’s no longer available! Loved this ‘unique’ card! You are so talented!
Hi Marilyn! That designer paper was retired on June 3 when the new catalog debuted. Since this is a retired product, I’d like to offer two resources that might have it:
Check eBay – be careful on pricing however. Often times sellers overprice the items because they know they are in high demand.
Splitcoaststampers – this online resource has a buy/sell/trade board that has lots of retired products available. You can find this site at http://www.splitcoaststampers.com
I hope one of these works for you!
