Two months ago Bob the Builder and I moved into our “new” home. We purchased this home because it was 12 houses away from my sister, my only sibling, whom I hadn’t lived near in over 30+ years. While the house was far from what we had hoped for, we knew based upon the low asking price that we could renovate it to be our forever home. Some of the Ikea products were brought from my prior craft room but I needed more since this new room has no closet. While shopping for additional pieces I was reminded that Ikea still offers some great storage and organization solutions.
With the help of my husband, “Bob the Builder”, we were able to utilize every inch of my new 11’x14′ craft room to its maximum capacity. Oh, how I love craft room organization and craft room ideas and I thought you would too. You won’t want to miss the video tour, pictures, shopping links and my updated rainbow cardstock order list! 3 Reasons I Love My New Craft Room
Reason 1 – I love Ikea craft rooms for their sleek, simple design. Despite the changes in styles and colors through the years, I know this room will alway fit into current decor. The Ikea Kallax system is one of the best craft room storage solutions ever!
Reason 2 – Craft room organization is easy using Ikea’s planning center. Choose the pieces you like and configure them into a virtual 3D setting to see how they’ll look. Ikea’s DIY pieces are incredibly affordable! Mixing pieces is easy since they offer the same finish in nearly every organization piece they sell.
Reason 3 – I have an affordable craft room storage solution for all of my supplies. Ikea’s expansive line includes more than furniture. They have amazing accessories that fit inside their units like decorative bins and baskets, file trays, drawers and doors. Choose your basic piece and add the features you love. The pull out file tray in the picture below is a simple, sturdy insert.

New Craft Room: Details
When we purchased this home, there was a massive bonus room at the front of the house that measured 14’x34′. Since the house has a family room, this proved to be a lot of wasted space so we turned this one huge room into two. An interior wall was built, insulated for sound and French doors added.
The completed studio is 11’x14′ and filled to the brim with color and organization. The layout of this room included cabinets, counter tops, an island and lots of Ikea storage. CLICK HERE to watch a quick video about the Stamp N’ Storage cardstock inserts.
Both the ink pad/marker/refill storage and the Stampin’ Blends storage are from Stamp N’ Storage. I opted to stain mine using Light Old English vs. leaving them natural woo. These storage units will be a one-time buy due to their incredible quality. CLICK HERE to check out this product.
This Kallax Ikea unit is identical to the one constructed to hold my cardstock. However, this time, Bob the Builder added doors and drawers to the openings. Since this room doesn’t have a closet, storage was desperately needed.
Each space has plenty of room to hold envelopes, cellophane bags, office supplies and so much more. Perfectly sized for an abundance of uses, Ikea furniture never disappoints!
I use accordion file folders to hold my paper scraps. Each slot is labeled with repositionable Post-It-Note tabs, allowing me to change the order and contents when Stampin’ Up! introduces new colors and retires others. CLICK HERE to watch a quick video about this accordion scrap storage system.
These Ikea units were designed to hold DVD but work perfectly for the Stampin’ Up! stamp set cases. CLICK HERE to watch a quick video showcasing these shelves.
Lighting and ample space are a must when designing and filming. This ‘elbow’ of the counter is perfect for just that! With ample outlets both above and below the cabinets, plugging in my Ott Lites, iPad, cell phone and Heat Tool are quick, easy and convenient.

Congratulations n a beautiful and functional studio. I have all my stamps and dies in DVD cases. I tried to find the GNEDBY unit for my stamps. The link took me to an overseas site. The US site doesn’t have it listed as an option. Where did you get yours?
thanks

How beautiful and user friendly your new room looks. If I had the room to undertake such a project I would also try to rent Builder Bob. May you have many rewarding and inspired hours in your new “She Shack”.

You are so fortunate to have such a wonderful space to do your creating. Mine looks like a man’s workshop but I’m lucky to have what I have.
Vicki I am blessed to have my “happy place”!! It really does not matter what space we have as long as we can make stamp what we love!!
What a beautiful work space! I don’t have much room as I live in a 1250 sq ft condo, so even though I can’t use the large units (wish I could!), you have given me lots of ideas on how to utilize the space I have. I know you will have many joyful days creating in your new craft room.
Thanks so much Sara for stopping by to watch!! I am thrilled I could inspire you!!

Your room is perfect. How do you keep it so organized and clean. Mine looks like a tornado went through after each group of cards I make. I do so love the neutral p, classy colors.
Charlene thanks for stopping by!! Just so you know, when I design and stamp that tornado goes through my area!!!
Loved the tour and all your crafty ideas, will need to plan out properly what I can do with a much smaller room which needs to be an occasional bed room as well, could do with ‘Bob the Builder’ to visit me in Troon, Scotland and help me out. You are an amazing designer and very clear demonstrator. Thank you.
Moira glad you enjoyed the tour!! Thank you!!
Love your craft room. You are organized everything so well and neat. Where did you find the camera wall mount for a camera? I need more space instead of having a tripod in my craft room. Thank you for the tour.
Karen thanks visiting my studio!! My husband who I refer to as Bob the Builder designed it using PCV pipe!!
Lisa, your studio is beautiful. One question what is the name of the basket in the center section with the triangle opening and where can I find those?
Delores thank you for visiting!! Those baskets and the white cubes came from Ikea. Hope this helps!! The baskets I have had for many years!!
