You can emboss a piece of cardstock using an embossing folder. You can also heat emboss using an embossing heat gun. While the word “embossing” is often interchangeable between these two techniques, they are quite different.
Today’s how-to video will take you through the steps of using colored embossing powders as well as how to heat emboss in all 49 Stampin’ Up! colors (including Memento ink)! I’m sharing tips on fixing common mistakes, too!

Metallic embossing powders are the most popular among paper crafters but don’t overlook the dramatic effect that white embossing powder has on dark cardstock. Heat emboss everything from outline images to greetings.
Want your heat embossing in a specific color? Grab your favorite Stampin’ Up! classic ink pad and clear embossing powder! With a well-inked pad and a clear embossing powder you can take the ordinary to extraordinary in seconds!
Stampin’ Up! has four color families (Brights, Neutrals, Regals and Subtles) each consisting of 10 exclusive colors. In addition to those 40 colors, there are 8 additional colors known as “In Colors”. A new group of four (4) In Colors are introduced each year and remain in the catalog for a two-year period. These In Colors are the hottest, on-trend colors and compliment the other 40 perfectly! And don’t forget about Tuxedo Black Memento ink. That gives you 49 colors to heat emboss!
