Slide and Lock Fun Fold Card Details
Fun folds create a great interactive card for the receiver. A few additional folds and you’ll have a card that will have them wondering how you made it! And this slide and lock fun fold card is definitely a WOW!
The front layer/panel of this card is comprised of four pieces all cut the same size. Two of the four pieces are scored and folded in half and act as the hinges for the slide mechanism. They are then adhered to a back piece for stability. The final piece provides a place for the card’s focal point plus added stability of the hinges. Wait until you see how easy this is to create!
I used designer paper for the gate fold and image layer. Also, consider embossed cardstock layers in place of the designer paper. There’s a wide selection of choices with over 23 Stampin’ Up! embossing folders!
And don’t forget the bling! I added several sequins from the Whale of a Time Sequins for added sparkle and texture. You can use Fine-Tip Glue or my favorite, the Glue Dots provided in the Paper Pumpkin kit. They are smaller than typical Glue Dots and work great for sequins.
Slide and Lock Fun Fold Card – Idea #2
If you love florals you’re going to love the Ornate Garden Suite in the annual catalog. You’ll find these products on pages 64-67 which include detailed floral images, gold foil accented designer papers, gems and detailed frame dies.

Slide and Lock Fun Fold Card – Succulent Cutting Dimensions
Gate Fold Base
- Thick Whisper White (base): 4 1/4″ x 11″, score at 2 3/4″ on one end and fold
- Fold the other end to meet the first fold
- lTrim 1/16″ from one end to allow a small amount of space for the slide and lock layer
- Designer Paper (base panels): cut 2 @ 2 1/2″ x 4″. Trim one of these panels 1/16″ to mimic that side of the gate fold.
- Gold Foil (optional layer – shown on Daisy card): cut 2 @ 2 3/8″ x 4 1/8″. Trim one of these layers 1/16″ to mimic that side of the gate fold.
Slide & Lock Layer
- Thick Whisper White (panels): cut 4 pieces @ 3 1/2″ x 3 1/2″
- Score 2 of the Whisper White pieces in half at 1 3/4″ and fold to create two ‘hinges’
- Adhere each folded piece, with the folded edge ub the center, to one of the Whisper White pieces
- Adhere and “sandwich” the Whisper White pieces between the remaining Whisper White cardstock
- Thick Whisper White (greeting): 3/8″ x 2 1/2″
- Designer Paper: 3 1/4″ x 3 1/4″
- TIP: The Slide and Lock layer can be adapted in size to fit your focal point. Cut all 4 pieces the same size then score 2 of the pieces in half.

I love these cards and the tutorial. Thank you for the time you take to make them so easily understood. One question: I tried to “pin the image” so it would save to Pinterest but nothing happened. What did I do wrong?
Deborah…on my IPad, I held my finger on the pic and then hit the SHARE (box with the arrow). The Pinterest icon shows (one of several icons). Then a pop up asking which board you want to save it to.

I really like both of the cards but decided the one with the daisy is my favorite because I have the same paper to do that one. (I need to use some of the papers I already have so I can order more of the new.) This looks so much easier than I had imagined and I love making cards that are different than a standard A2 card. TFS

I made this card for my granddaughter and it was really a lot of fun. I would have to say that I don’t think all cards are fun to make but are attractive enough to be worth the work.But this card was really fun and it can be dressed up or down to suite the occasion. Thank you Lisa for the video.
