Let’s make a birthday card with a fun image window! Stampin’ Up! is well known in the paper crafting world due to their exclusive product coordination.
The new Whirl Dies will add an element of interaction when you make a birthday card. These dies provide pre-cut windows and mechanisms to turn the images represented on the front. I liken it to the modern day “View Master”! I’ve paired these dies with the Pansy Patch Bundle to create a simple and pretty birthday card. And while many of you have grown fond of the Pansy Patch Bundle, you’ve expressed confusion about how to build a realistic looking flower. I have a free download in today’s project sheet that includes all the details for both stamping and die cutting these amazing blooms!

Make a Birthday Card | Pansy Patch
Pansies are one of the widest color ranges of any garden annual. The flowers may be of a single color or have two or three colors with a face. This makes using the Pansy Patch Bundle (stamp set + coordinating dies) fun and versatile.
Since the images are photopolymer, aligning them is easy which creates layers of intense color. The coordinating dies provide realistic curved edges to give this stamped image a touchable look! This Bundle of products has been among the most popular in the new annual catalog.
The Whirl Dies provide three different shape openings to display your card images. Select the shape based upon the images you’d like to use. Watch my video for a great tip about creating a template for quick reference in your catalog.
With a huge array of colors to create these stunning flowers you can use any of the patterns in the Pansy Petals Designer Series Paper package or mix and match with what you already own. The possibilities are endless!
Make a Birthday Card | Stellar Birthday
If you’re looking for that ‘out of the world’ birthday card, look no further than the Stellar Birthday Bundle. Featured on page 57 of the annual catalog this stamp set includes 11 images, perfect for showcasing scenes in the Whirl Dies.
I created this background by applying White Craft Ink with a Sponge Dauber to the cardstock. I allowed a little time for it to dry then added add Polished Pink and Daffodil Delight with additional Sponge Daubers. The small star clusters are part of this stamp set and were added over the background. I recommend die cutting first before creating the background for this stellar card.
With images for both boys and girls, this stamp set is super to put a smile on the face of the receiver and allow for many twirls of enjoyment. Use the Stampin’ Blends alcohol-based markers to customize hair color and skin tones for personalized cards. And this little astronaut moves! Check out the video to see these Action Wobblers! Whirl Dies | Count on Me
We all use birthday cards but there are times when you’ll need to send a card of encouragement and the Count on Me stamps set includes 6 animal images and 6 varied greetings. These outline images are easy to color and fit perfectly in this spotlight-shaped window.
Consider adding a greeting in one of the window openings. Coordinating the greetings create a fun flow of words that extends beyond the inside of your card.
Create a Whirl Die card for birthday cards, announcements, get well and much more. They’re easy to make with the dies – and don’t forget to add the Round & Square Brads to your order. They’re the perfect connection between the die cut mechanism to this card.

Again, good job, Lisa! Unfortunately, I cannot get your pages to print…in any case, I’d especially like to be able to print the step-by-step pansy coloring with pads and stamps. Thanks! Jan
