Get ready for this amazing pull out Christmas card! This is a 3D pop up card that displays an image or greeting to surprise the recipient. When you make a few of these DIY Christmas cards for family and friends, they will be perplexed over the “how to” for this extraordinary holiday card.
This is one of the best pop up cards that I’ve seen because it’s not intuitive. A pull on the cardstock brings the inside panel forward to reveal a surprise 3D pop up card. Using a few strategically placed pieces of cardstock inside a hidden pocket provides this card surprise. Once you create one, you’ll be hooked! Create them for holiday cards, birthday cards, announcements, and invitations. It’s a fun fold card design that won’t get old.

Pull Out Christmas Card Details
If you love nostalgic Christmas imagery, then you’re going to love the Tidings & Trimmings Bundle (stamp set + coordinating dies). Found in the annual catalog, these dies include both detailed and outline images for stockings and stars. Mix and match the stockings for added texture and design and you’ll have a Christmas Bundle that you’ll use for years to come.
The surprise in this fun fold card is the pull out insert. I’ve reconfigured a few dimensions from similar cards for a better ‘fit’.
The coordinating Tidings of Christmas Designer Paper is not only abundant but perfectly sized at 6″x6″ for these fun fold cards. Traditional colors and simple patterns means you’ll have designer paper for lots of handmade creations.
And what Christmas card is complete without a little sparkle? I used Copper Foil for the star and holly which are complemented by the sparkle of the rhinestones.
Don’t use shortcuts on the adhesive. Be sure to use Tear & Tape versus other adhesives and/or liquid glue. I’ve tried them all and the Tear & Tape provides the perfect bond.
Pull Out Christmas Card | Sweet Stockings
If you like stockings and ‘fur babies’ you’re going to fall in love with the Sweet Stockings Bundle. Use the stocking images alone or add an adorable insert and/or accessory from this versatile Bundle. As a bonus, you can use the dies with the coordinating designer paper. Some of the images can be cut out using the dies!
Gina and I have been discussing whether the third pet image in this stamp set is a gerbil or a hamster. I’m weighing in that it’s a hamster but she feels it could easily double as a gerbil. I’ll let you decide. Got grandkids? They’ll love these cuddly looking cards!
Pull Out Christmas Card | Thank You Card
The sophistication of the Nature’s Harvest Bundle has made it a huge (repeating, HUGE) seller in the Mini Catalog. The imagery can be used for a wide variety of cards with designer papers and foils, too.
I spruced this one up using the Blackberry Beauty Specialty Designer Paper. This gorgeous paper includes gold foil accents that are irresistible!
This second Nature’s Harvest card sample uses a coloring medium. I heat embossed the flowers on Watercolor Paper using Gold (Metallics) Embossing Powder. I then added color using Water Painters and ink refills in Crushed Curry and Early Espresso.
The Harvest Meadow Designer Paper was substituted for this sample. I created both my cards as thank you’s but these could easily be used for any occasion.
