Let me teach you another way to use your alcohol based markers! Today’s card making tutorials include gorgeous vellum card ideas.
Vellum overlay cards create a beautiful translucent layer to your cardstock. The alcohol marker provides intense color that shows through the vellum for impressive designs on cards! While creating these vellum overlay cards may be intuitive with photopolymer stamps because of their ability to ‘see through’ the image, I’m also teaching you how to use this card making idea with Stampin’ Up! cling stamps.

Vellum Overlay Cards | Photopolymer Stamps
The clear advantage to photopolymer stamps shines through with this card technique!
Stamp your images on the Basic White cardstock, slip the cardstock inside the vellum card base for placement and align the outside image using Versamark ink. Heat set in your favorite color embossing powder and you’ll have the perfect overlay!
Add the magic using Stampin’ Blends Markers! These alcohol based markers provide flawless coverage and create professional blending results. Are you new to using alcohol based markers? Click HERE to view my YouTube playlist loaded with tips and tricks on using the Stampin’ Blends Markers.
I designed this card so the inside Basic White layer opens to reveal the sentiment.
This next card uses the very popular Hand-Penned Petals stamp set. Once again, these photopolymer images provide easy placement for this stunning card making technique!
Vellum Overlay Cards | Cling Stamps
What about this overly technique when using cling stamps? Since the stamp material is red rubber, alignment isn’t as seamless. This is where your Stamparatus comes in handy!
The Daffodil Daydream Bundle and Stampin’ Blends Markers create a stunning card! Here I’ve opted to add some interest to the front of the card by adding the butterfly image which lays on top of the vellum.
These delicate flowers are perfect for Easter as well as any occasion cards. Mix and match the images and greetings to use all year long!
Free as a Bird is a long-time favorite in the annual catalog. These beautifully hand-drawn images are realistic and easy to use.
Experiment with your Stampin’ Blends! Don’t be afraid to mix colors to create custom tones. A combination of Petal Pink and Night of Night of Navy Stampin’ Blends Markers were used to create these birds. Don’t overlook the Color Lifter. This alcohol marker allows you to add highlights to your project by lightning specific areas.
