Handmade Gift Ideas | Heron Habitat
Watercolor! It’s relaxing and forgiving and one of my favorite techniques. Using the right paper makes a huge difference. The Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper and Shimmery White Cardstock are my go-to choices.
Not only does a watercolor background come together quickly and effortlessly, but it’s also the perfect palette for landscape images.
Handmade Gift Ideas: The Heron Habitat Bundle
The Heron Habitat Bundle (stamp set + coordinating dies) are perfect for masculine cards and those that love the beach. The stamp images are detailed enough to forgo coloring.
The Details
I determined my focal point shape for each card, lined them up, and then watercolor them all at the same time. Be sure to allocate drying time. If you’re not good at waiting, use your heat tool to speed up the process.
I wanted a little color to this small bird so I stamped the image using Soft Suede ink and used a damp Water Painter to move the outline color around. Since these are dye-based inks, the water is reactive and will allow the color to bleed. This is a wonderful coloring tip if you don’t have markers to use.
The simplest of cards are striking when adding texture. That includes embossed backgrounds, designer papers and embellishments. Each of these cards has a uniform theme but different in their own way.
Gifting handmade cards is not only economical, it’s a gift from the heart. Consider making each card for a different occasion so the receiver can use them year-round.
The Splendid Day Designer Paper is double-sided providing beautiful foil accents on one side and simple matte prints on the other. Those simple prints work wonderfully for masculine cards!
Wondering how to get two-tones on the cattail image? Break out your dye-based markers and use them directly on the stamp image.
The Faux Sea Glass embellishments are perfect for landscape and beach scenes. Each one is slightly different in size and shape so they can easily be clustered together for texture and ‘grounding’ of your image. And they come with adhesive already on the backside and in three colors!
The label dies in this Bundle are a winner! The detailed opening on each side of this tag provided the perfect place to add Linen Thread.
Heron Habit Gift Box
When creating the gift box, coordinate the outside to the inside using your largest images. Sentiments are optional but don’t skimp on using Stampin’ Up!’s strong cardstock for these kinds of projects. The quality is second to none! And don’t forget the envelopes!
Handmade Gift Ideas | Framed Florets
Looking for amazing oval dies that provide simplicity and elegance? The Framed Florets Dies do just that!
While the Framed Florets Bundle (stamp set + coordinating dies) are available now during the promotion, these two products will carry over into the new Mini Catalog debuting on January 5, 2023.
The Fitting Florets Designer Paper, however, is a limited edition product and only available while supplies last through January 4, 2023. And it’s stunning!
The rich colors of these designer papers are easily enhanced with subtle tones of Balmy Blue and Blushing Bride.
Mix and match the die cut oval pieces to configure your own frame. They are interchangable!
Stampin’ Blends alcohol-based markers are my favorite coloring medium. Easy to use and provide professional results, you’ll find yourself reaching for them more often than dye-based markers! Promise!

The dies include several images that aren’t part of the stamp set which expounds on its use. The leaves and fern images on the card below have become widely used on other cards as well.
Don’t forget the bling! Adding simple iridescent rhinestones to the center of these flowers dresses up the card and adds texture.
Look at this negative die image! Best of all, the die cutting is effortless!
The Heart Pearls come in several finishes and two sizes. They’re perfect for all your cards year-round.
